So, I know this has been tried before but I'm going to attempt to start a thread for the purpose of the explanation of Christianity.
All questions are welcomed but it'd be really cool if only one or two were asked at a time until the previous questions are resolved.
The questions can pertain to Christians as a whole or my own personal faith and beliefs. Also if the questions could remain focused on Christianity and not just become flame it would be great.
Please avoid needless debate as there are plenty of forums on this subject for debate.
What makes Christianity the "right" religion? Why does it preach acceptance but in turn accepts nothing but it's own rules?
There's a big difference between being tolerant (what Christians are) and accepting all beliefs as true (which Christians do not.) I'm assuming you can tolerate my beliefs as a Christian and I can tolerate yours at an atheist but we do not accept one another.
As Jesus's teachings are the foundation for Christianity we accept thema s true, and this verse answers your question.
I didn't say I can explain everything, but I think science can.
Gotcha So your saying to me that your putting your faith in science (which in itself is intangible and fallible) to know all things and to be able to explain all things? Why? Is it because in your personal experiences you've found evidence that shows science to be true in most/all circumstances? Your belief in this is NO different from mine in God as we both have evidence that proves (to ourselves) that they will never fail us.
I have more than enough friends. And I believe everything that happens can be explained by science. No supernatural stuff or whatever.
So your on this site right now for what reasons? Because you enjoy it? Or because science can explain to you the positive affects that will come from you using this site? As I stated previously your belief in science seems to be with the same devotion as my belief in God.
Because I think nature is just as is, and the universe and everything in it formed by chance, and because of laws of physics. I just think everything can be explained by a logical explenation, instead of being accounted to a higher being.
Your belief in this is NO different from mine in God as we both have evidence that proves (to ourselves) that they will never fail us.
The difference s that you only have evidence to prove it to yourself. Science is there to proof things no matter what your opinion on things is.

I'm on this site right now because I enjoy it, yes. And I enjoy it because certain chemicals are released in my brain that give me the feeling of enjoying it.

How can you have friends and enjoy this site so much. Your on all the time. P.S.(Sniff phenol it will make the chemicals in your brain work better.)
That wasn't a personal attack. I was stating the obvious. By the way, phenol smells good.
I admit, I'm online a lot. But I still have a lot of friends. Being online a lot doesn't mean that one can't have friends. And I've never smelled phenol, so I wouldn't know.

Sorry. saw this and have to put my 2 pence in, so not trying to offend with this.
At least we can admit science is tangable and fallible. And we actually USE science to prove things to others like "oh look, when I drop this thing it falls at the same speed as this heavier thing"... there is a conclusive test that can be done by ALL regardless of belief. God, however, is not provable, and sadly that is religions biggest strength.
The difference s that you only have evidence to prove it to yourself. Science is there to proof things no matter what your opinion on things is.
Wrong again. Apparently, with Christianity being the largest religion, there's quite a bit of proof to go around. Out of curiosity could you give me a working definition of science without using any tools?

Eh, good try getting science in there but it wouldn't matter if you knew why you enjoy it you simply do which is good enough for everyone else on this site.
That's quite a personal attack, don't you think? I guess that when your arguments fail you have to go personal.
Isn't that what you just did? Attack him personally? Be chill.

As science is nothing more than an idea it cannot be considered tangible but yes it is quite fallible. God isn't tangible because he is supernatural which (as I've been over) excludes him from being completely proven or dis-proven. Also, you act like God (if he exists mind you) would be fallible, which would be inevitably false.
And we actually USE science to prove things to others
Yes we do? I think you missed the point of my post. He said that even though he doesn't know these things he believes science can explain them, he's putting his faith in science to be able to explain existence to him with faith. I don't argue science but it only works in the natural realm and therefor cannot be used to prove everything if the supernatural does exist.

Majority rules doesn't make for proof.

Knowledge attained through study or practice, or knowledge covering general truths of the operation of general laws. Or as wiki puts it. "any systematic knowledge or prescriptive practice that is capable of resulting in a correct prediction."
