Ah, I so felt like posting this...

Well, we all know that the Twilight saga has brought in massive rewards, and it's like Harry Potter all over again. A huge number love it and almost as many hate it (Research indicates the top reason is fans). And quite a few series have jumped out of nowhere based on the series.

But I find the books (And movies) have all changed our opinion of one thing: Vampires. Book lovers now see the 'Cold One' as appealing and sexy, while haters... Drop dead.

I'm just curious as to how people feel about this. Do you like the fact vampires have been changed so dramatically? If so, how?

I disagree, I think vampires should not sparkle. When they go outside in daylight hours, they should turn to dust, not sparkle in the sun.

True, when I saw that, I 'loled' it. That part is totally made up by Steph. Or some random source.
Twilight hasn't affected my view of vampires as a whole, but instead of the modernly liked vampire.

Yeah, I try to ignore Twilight, but see:

When someone says 'vampire' the first thing that pops into my head is Edward. Very annoying.
Point being: I still think that Vampires have the capibility to be bloodthirsty, poonthirsty, manipulative evil creatures. Though they should not have the ability to procreate, only to infect more individuals with vampiric blood.

Vampires are like zombies: They have no souls, and are of the damned. Twilight says that, but somehow Edy is still 'nice'. She contradicts herself sort of.
I remember when vampires used to suck blood...not di*k

Lol, other way round.

I love the Nosferatu film so cool compared to the Twilight ones..... though to be fair to twilight they're not the first films to screw with vamires (just the worst lol)

So true...

It didn't really do anything to my opinion because the only thing it's good for in my opinion is kindling.

And the most successful. It saddens me when movies have so much hype on them, and then even a normal person sees the shoddiness (Not to mention the critics).
Me: BAHAHAHAHAAAHAHA!!!!!!!11!!one!!1.

Thanks to Twilight, I would say:

'You're a bit young for that, aren't you?'

Sorry, but it's true.

That's a lot of kindling, just one book...

Doesn't anyone have a nice opinion on Twilight? Everyone here hates it, but I'd like to see the background of the people who like the books. It's one of the reasons I wrote the thread: To see what Twilight stimulates in people.

They just made them more angsty. Anne Rice, is the one who first romanticized them. This just appeals the teens who are into High School musical, or at least makes it seem more edgy.

OP response: I had some respect for vampire culture before Twilight went Hollywood. It had a bit of mystery surrounding it. Now, it's become too poppy like everything else (Jonas Bros, Miley Cyrus, etc.).

In turn, you find all these "documentary" shows on vampires just tearing it down to such simple forms. It's just lost it's jazz.

Companies try to push popular media as far as possible, to make as much money as possible. Yes, eventually it becomes very annoying to the public, but they don't care if they'v made a fortune out of it.

Oh, I know what you mean. Thanks, you just helped me find my inner explanation why I dislike that kind of stuff.

It reaches to the same crowd: Soft people (No offense). Most of these are girls (this is also not offensive), although quite a share of boys are included.

HSM was also stretched to the maximum income like twilight.
