Well, we all know that the Twilight saga has brought in massive rewards, and it's like Harry Potter all over again. A huge number love it and almost as many hate it (Research indicates the top reason is fans). And quite a few series have jumped out of nowhere based on the series.
But I find the books (And movies) have all changed our opinion of one thing: Vampires. Book lovers now see the 'Cold One' as appealing and sexy, while haters... Drop dead.
I'm just curious as to how people feel about this. Do you like the fact vampires have been changed so dramatically? If so, how?
I think they have totally destroyed the classical rendering of a vampire. The only similarities between Twilight and the typical Bram Stoker vamps is the fact that both drink blood. Twilight is an interesting amateur romance series, but I honestly think its hilarious that Stephanie Meyer thought the vamps should sparkle.
It made me feel like all vampires are a bunch of overemotional softies(JK!) Twilight actually didn't change my view of vampires(Or werewolves)at all. They just gave people a different look at them.
I used to like vampires, now all anyone knows them as is glittering fairy princesses, and they are sooo not like that. I can't even find a decent book to read anymore with out it having something to do with vampires, or immortals, and beings that live forever. i'm not saying that those kinds of books aren't good, but its like ever since twilight came out, vampires have taken over everything. it sucks, it really, really sucks....and not to metion you have those little pre-teens and their obsessions...ugh...
I completely ignored Twilight. You want real modern vampires, watch True Blood on HBO. Vampires are creatures of the night, unless they drank fairy blood, are half-breeds, or were the first.
Then again, 'Blade' shows the very first vampire (Drake) as on ugly SOB when he's not disguised...
I tried watching the first Twilight. It was bad... Very bad... I'm more fantasy type, so I think castles and blood and bats. But Twilight is basically nice vampires who *sparkle*. Twilight is more teenagers who think they'd get a date with Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson, and is an embarrassment to all fantasy lovers. So answering the question: Vampires have not changed in my mind after watching Twilight.
Twilight has not affected my view on Vampires, as she is a pony...
Oh wait, you meant the book/movie.
Nothing changed on my view of them, except now their is a new low-vampire on the totem pole of Vampiredom. I mean, the vampire from Sesame Street is more of a vampire than Twilight's vampires.
