This is a discussion thread about Marijuana, Cannabis, Weed, Dank, 420, Pot. It is currently legal in a few states, though they are regulating the usage of it.
contrary to popular belief, weed doesnt cause cancer, it's like alcohol, impairs your motor skills. that's about it.
I figure you young kids will be eventually come into contact with it once you hit your college/high school years, and it would be good to dispel some wrong and wayward thinking brought on by the government.
so please have fun, ask questions, keep it lighthearted.
For others who partake in god's choice smokes please give me some of your favorite dank
Weed is legal in a couple of states, cali, colorado. up in Canada, Vancouver has legalized weed. Amsterdam too.
It's a great experience really, not advocating you should try it, since it is also quite the expensive plant (prices are artificially inflated in legalized areas also for government control purposes)
Again, please read the information I provided. It is not only extremely heavy users who experience detrimental effects from THC ingestion. Another misconception which is entirely all too common.
I did read it, it says it is possible for a more regular user but extremely unlikely.

Orange Crush, although it's not the "best", I believe it gives the best body high.
Now as for my opinion on it, I don't believe marijuana is a drug. It's a plant that grows, nothing added, just picked and smoked. And if used in moderation and responsibly (like I do), it creates a good aura and can actually build you to become a better person, help you "soul search".

actually, pot ussaully has another drug added to it, and has no value in curing cancer, so im going to keep away from it.
At first I was thinking that it should be legalized but then Walker started bringing up all the bad stuff it does so I am not sure now.
What about alcohol then? How bout chocolate? Coffee anyone! There is much in the world that does bad. Keep away from it holt if you dont like the idea, just dont believe the crap that surrounds it in the anti drug leaflets etc. If you read what Walker says he clearly states that there is both good and bad within cannabis. I would say this is true of all drugs.
Now lets legalize and tax the crap outta this already!

I know it can be good but so can alchohal as long as you don't drink to much.
The basis behind marijuana not being legal has NOTHING to do with its effects on the body. This is purely a political and monetary battle. There is no point in even debating the health benefits or detriments.
Here is a good example:
Last night I was watching King of the Hill on Adult Swim. A commercial for a new Rheumatoid Arthritis came on. It was called Simponi. As they were going through the commercial, I was listening to the side effects:
Other
Other side effects have included serious and sometimes fatal infections due to bacterial, mycobacterial, invasive fungal, viral, protozoal, or other opportunistic pathogens. Among opportunistic infections, tuberculosis, histoplasmosis, aspergillosis, candidiasis, coccidioidomycosis, listeriosis, and pneumocystosis were the most commonly reported with TNF-blockers.
Other
Other side effects have included the reactivation of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in patients who are chronic hepatitis B carriers (i.e., surface antigen positive).
Oncologic
Oncologic side effects have included an increase in the development of lymphoma in patients treated with TNF-blockers including golimumab.
Cardiovascular
Cardiovascular side effects have included cases of worsening congestive heart failure (CHF) and new onset CHF. Hypertension has also been reported.
Nervous system
Nervous system side effects have included cases of new onset or exacerbation of central nervous system (CNS) demyelinating disorders, including multiple sclerosis (MS). Paraesthesia and dizziness has also been reported.
Hepatic
Hepatic side effects have included severe hepatic reactions including acute liver failure in patients receiving TNF-blockers such as golimumab. Elevations of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase have been reported with the use of golimumab.
Hematologic
Hematologic side effects have included reports of pancytopenia, leukopenia, neutropenia, aplastic anemia, and thrombocytopenia in patients receiving TNF-blockers.
Immunologic
Immunologic side effects have included the formation of autoantibodies and, rarely, with the development of a lupus-like syndrome. Cases of new onset psoriasis, including pustular psoriasis and palmoplantar psoriasis, have been reported with the use of TNF-blockers, including golimumab.
Respiratory
Respiratory side effects have included upper respiratory tract infection, nasopharyngitis, bronchitis, sinusitis, influenza, pharyngitis, and rhinitis.
Local
Local side effects have included injection site erythema.
The dang pills can give you cancer, outright. Like Munky was saying, there is not much in this world that is 100% good for you. Even vitamins. If you take too many of those, it can be VERY bad.

Wow... this comment... along with all the info after... is why we should clone you and send an army into the political arena.
I have been arguing reasons for legalisation for a long time. This tops most any reason I can think of.
At first I was thinking that it should be legalized but then Walker started bringing up all the bad stuff it does so I am not sure now.
I still think it should be legalized. Firstly, it is less harmful, even with regular use, than many other legal drugs. Secondly, by decriminalizing it we can produce, sell, and tax it. This will create jobs, increase revenue, and take the money out of the pockets of those criminal organizations who make their money with the transportation and sale of marijuana. Realistically speaking everything you put in your body can have detrimental effects, and obviously the more and more frequently you put something into your body the more pronounced those negative effects will be. However simply because something is or can be bad for you doesn't mean that the government has a right to criminalize it.

Give me a baby to kiss and pose for a picture!
Nah, but on a serious note the monetary battle has everything to do with the pharmaceutical companies. They cannot make money off of a drug they don't have to process or alter. This is why K9 is failing.

Surely they could still profit from the legalisatoin of weed, since it would enable legit pharmaceutical companies to invest some serious money into enhancing the highs and limiting the lows of it.
Firefly, we wouldn't NEED the pharmaceutical companies for marijuana. That's the problem. We need pharmaceutical companies to process our viagra, our blood pressure medication, our allergy pills, etc.
If marijuana became legal, you're gonna have everyone growing it in their backyard. Not many would pay the outrageous amount from Pfizer to have a little better high when I could just smoke MORE of the plant in my back yard.

Actually this is already done, particularly for medicinal marijuana. Add that to the fines levied against those who get caught with it, as well as the massive amounts of government funding piped into law enforcement to 'stop' the drug trade, and you can easily see that people are still making money hand over fist because marijuana is illegal.
