Suicide is the act of killing yourself. It is widely accepted as being wrong, i think we can all agree to that. But for some reason people have been killing themselves because of bullying. Then the bully is condemn as "assisted suicide" or something like that, and can go to jail for it. My question is do you think this is fair? People have flamed me before and called me names yet i am still alive. Is it the parents fault for not getting involved? How much blame should actually be put on the bullies shoulders? PS: i think internet bulling is bad. BUT shouldn't be stooped or punished due to freedom of speech.
True, but if someone is harassed on a daily basis and uses the web as an escape of what they are going through in school, only to have some prick continue to annoy them online. Sooner or later this person will have enough of it and to them suicide becomes an option to "get out". And they are cases of people bullying others online that they know are unstable (Lori Drew, look her up) and it ends up with someone dying. Someone dying because you had to be an idiot and post something you probably didn't need to on facebook is not alright. And breaking someone down to the point where they actually start contemplating suicide is emotional abuse and if your country doesn't have a law against it, it should start passing one through

It's freedom of speech until it is harming a person's right to peace and well-being. It's in federal law.

Suicide is called suicide because of the definition: the act of ending your own life. Before the previous event, suicide would not have been on this person's mind, hence why the bullies are liable for their actions.

That and the actual school administration, or at least the faculty of the specific school. It's a problem hands-down if someone is being bullied, and if you are able to stop it or help stop it, you could be able to save a bullied child's life. Saying you cannot be responsible for what's going on in your own school is both a lie and pathetic.
I know what it is like to have been driven to suicidal thoughts because of severe bullying. Does the blame lie with the bullies? Not completely. Many times (at school) the administration either refused to intervene on my behalf or handed down weak and undeterent punishments which not only made the bullying continue, but worsen. Not all bullying is name calling however, it is this that drives people to hate themselves. Should someone such as a student commit suicide I believe the administration should be put under investigation to see if they tried, if not they too should be charged.
I've never been bullied (people try, and when it gets old [fairly fast] I usually make them stop), so I can't really associate, but I've always thought that it's really stupid. Why not blast the bullies brains out rather than your own?

It makes me so sad to see a kid who didn't make it through high school commit suicide. The thing is, when you are in high school it is your WORLD. It feels like it all matters and that nothing will change or get better. It's so hard to be a teenager. I really don't think we, as adults, remember that very well. We seem to forget that when you're actually in high school it feels like the end of the world.
When you finally graduate and move away from the nonsense, you see that high school really meant nothing. No one but the usetacoulds are the ones that dwell on it. The rest of you will barely remember half the names of the students by the time you hit 24.
Trust me, Mr. Quarterback-all up in some church-I only date the pretty girls-etc is going to be holding on to his little high school glories because that was where his life peaked. Therefore bullying is a threat to freedom of speech; after all, governments and authorities are frequently accused of doing precisely this.
The main issue when it comes to punishing bullying that results in suicide is that the younger perpetrators frequently do not appreciate the significance or potential consequences of what they're doing. However, as far as the action goes, the buck stops with them. Modern philosophy would encourage us to look beyond the individual and examine the system and how they either serve or fail the victim and the bully, ideally in order to minimise this kind of outcome.

But in truth it is the system that has failed so many. It failed me though I pulled through. And it's failed so many others. I know from experience that the administration and teachers of schools hardly care for the individual, all they want is the problem to go away and that is because they are poorly equipped to deal with such situations. The teachers and administration must take more productive action to prevent these incidents from occuring.

I got bullied to the point i brought a weapon to school. that just made things worse because everyone started bring weapons. the best thing to do when u get bullied is tell an adult you can trust. fighting,and commiting suicide is the wimps way out. I learned that the hard way. well obviously i didnt commit suicide. i now go to a different school, and have a "criminal record"

I have never been on the receving end of bullies, exept when I was 7, because then I grew the size of my armatar... But a bully can really ruin the life of a kid. If you're 8 and someone constantly calls you an idiot, sooner or later your subconscious will start to belive it; and maybe, you can find only one solution to this problem...

Telling adults is all fine and good but they don't always help. Hell I was told that numerous times, the only thing I have to show for telling people I trusted are trust issues. Sometimes you have to fight though, sometimes you can't stand by any longer. It's wrong to say the people who commit suicide are weak. Some people just don't know what else to do and they can't deal with the ridicule and self hatred anymore. Everyone is different.
