----- Now, don't argue with me that YOU, specifically, do not associate things in that way. The point is not to address the specific you.
You are correct about black representing bad, and white representing good. However, I think its pretty obvious that isn't WHY we're referred to as "black" and "white". No matter how close-minded our ancestors were, I doubt they said to themselves "never mind the fact that they're actually a blackish color, lets call them black because they're EVIL!"
I think it goes deeper than political correctness. I believe it has something to do with our own psyche and our geographical location.
I believe the names of black and white probably started during the slave trade to America. Anglos truly believed that Africans were below them.
You're right on it having something to do with our psyche. However, our psyches and minds are often highly illogical. And you also may, or may not be right about when it started; however, we don't actually KNOW. The terms back and white could have even been started by the Africans.

You fail to question even why ancestors put black as bad.
Most black people I know don't care whether I say black or 'African American' or such. I don't really care if you call me yellow or not of course I might ask you if you're blind, since my skins nowhere near that... But in answer to your OP because now day's even pointing out a fact is 'racist'.

People have a natural fear of dark. The fearing of light and black goes back way before the slave trade. Darkness is generally considered evil. Why? I don't know, maybe is because people can hide in the dark, and reveal their true selves with anonymity. Sort of like Armorgames, except without Sonny 2

It was not a conscious effort. Take a look at the wiki entries on origins of "white people" as a term. These classifications are based mostly on social and religious separations. The Bad/Good association is just the tip of the iceberg.

Where are you getting that our psyche is illogical? And we do know where the terms come from. There is plenty of literature on the subject. That is why that wiki page does a decent job combining that.

Exactly, thank you. Just pick up your basic philosophical book and you'll see that for whatever reason. Those colors have that association. Light = grow Dark = not growing
I'm just merely pointing out that people call the slightest comments racist.
I asked a woman while getting my groceries the other day to get the attention of this black guy in front of her and she looked at me as if I was devil spawn.
The words themselves are not derogatory, but the actions that would follow them a number of years ago were. According to the people who made up these categories, there is "black", "white", "yellow", "red", "brown", and nothing in between any of them. That's why it's generally considered racist.
Okay, Touche. However, that was a long time ago. The majority of people now look at "black" and "white" as terms based on skin color. In any case, if we really DID look at the two terms at representations of good and evil, what would "yellow" be?
I guess everyone looks at it different though, some people might still use the terms based on the originals instead of how they're used now. Mostly depends on the person.
Norad, that is true. I read an article where a black guy was offended because someone called him African American. He responded: DO I CALL YOU EUROPEAN AMERICAN!?
I mean come on...
But sad fact: There used to be a law that a black man would go to jail for stepping on a white man's shadow.
Pulse, read that link I posted. It really just shows how Asians did not share a role between the Europeans and Africans at that time... The browns and the yellows were not the focus. For lack of a better explanation.

Yes, I know, however, Asians are the focus HERE. Which is my point, that Asians are called yellow because their skin os more yellow than most.
