I say that when a mod locks a topic, they should HAVE to put a reason why they did so that we know what we did wrong.

If someone makes an inappropriate thread, then they should be able to know what they did wrong so they don't do it again.

I know some mods just put it on your profile, but if you post it, all the people who read the locked thread will know what you did wrong, and hopefully, not do it themselves.

Lemme know what you think...

I agree with firetail, however I've never seen a thread that had an obvious reason behind it be locked without an explanation...

Lol is that what happened to it Firetail, I remember posting on it, then the next day I checked for it and it was gone

The mods even sometimes...ADD PICTURES!

A picture is worth a thousand words...so if you get one of them - you should feel very special, since they've taken 1000 words to explain what you did wrong...

A picture is worth a thousand words

Awesome Quote!

Anyway I think that this is a good idea, I have never personally had one of my threads locked because I usually forget about it like a week later.

When a mods lock a thread, they should have reasons to choose from and click one, and it will say that on the topic.

Now are you talking about something like this format:

A) This thread is spam.
B) This thread is off topic.
C) This thread is not in the right section.
D) This thread is racist.

Well with this kind of thing which is what I think you were impliying then it doesn't really give you all the options that they could get from just writing on. Also with the ability to write one then they could get into detail.

This is what a picture is equal to. Can you understand the words? I thought so. I am in support for this idea.

Like
F) This thread is utterly stupid, the people posting in it are acting like they know something, when in fact they only spam and borderline flame, and yes I am looking at you, get your stuff together or face a ban, kthnxbai.

That would be a good option, though.

I think that it really doen't matter if a thread got banned. I mean, if there was obviously something wrong about it, why does it matter? And if your thread got locked for no apparent reason to you, ask the mods. And don't get upset over it either. I have never had my threads locked before. Most of the time the people talking on it with me, are all on topic. Most of the time. But my threads get back to the original topic, so all is well. But I don't see anything that would be wrong with an option like that, besides it being unecesary.

Most Mods State The reason via commenting on the users message board. Otherwise It's just plain obvious what they have done wrong to get it locked.

Also good job at being irrationally oblivious about the saying.

I like lock and run. Sometimes a thread is just too stupid to have a properly formulated lock-message, because the only real reply you have is *facepalm*. As mentioned in "option F)"

Wasn't there a thread in the Tavern way back in '09 about something so random and stupid that a mod DID reply, but couldn't find the correct words to post? He just said "look, don't post things like that again, yes we know males have those, so don't post obvious things". Of course he was either spamming/trolling, but that thread never surfaced again XD

That would go under "Option F)F)".

Something like that. I have just gone about locking, and then editing the title to tell why it was locked. It is easier, and often it is better than replying with "oh well, uhm, this was answered, so I guess I will lock this nao, okay?" > >;

On the memory of threads locked, I just remember people being too stubborn to understand our rules. From before I was modded > >... So I can't really say if it was like that.

What I find a little frustrating is when I scan the forums and see a thread I would like to comment on, click on it only to find it's been locked. Why can't we see a lock on the "menu"?

Well, you can except for those "last posted" threads.

I think we should all understand the moderators and trust them when it comes to locking. A peek at the thread should almost always answer why the thread was locked. Messages are only needed when the reason isn't obvious.
