What is Evil? is there such thing? is there even a good or a bad, a light and a dark. Does evil describe, or does evil exist? What can be classified as evil? Is evil truly wrong other than the fact that it hurts others? is evil a mindset, or a noun? is it even there? describe evil, talk about it.

I don't particularly think evil exists. It is a human concept that, when you come down to it, means 'something that I personally find wrong'. The universe has no concept of good or evil and nor does nature.

Totally my opinion. Evil is not an absolute, it's relative to the person's point of view.

Good and evil are what you decide they are.Everyone has different parameters. It usually depends of your religion, nationality, etc.

The problem with Vontje's 'definition' of evil is that it involves morals and ethics. If we changed our morals and ethics around, then killing would be for fun and be America's past time. Heterosexuality would be frowned upon by the majority of the State and binge drinking would be considered sexy.

What the thread really needs is a clear-cut definition of evil, in it's purest form, not something that WE or SOCIETY considers evil.
the most straightforward definition of evil is detrimenting others for personal gain, whilst good is detrimenting yourself for the gain of others. There is nothing "deemed" wrong, morally or ethically about it, just that it is evil and good in the purest sense.
Personally I don't think that any action in and of itself is inherently good or evil, it simply is. It is the context in which the action occurs that offends our moral sensibilities and we then identify that with good or evil, or right and wrong if you are not a theist.

What I'm thinking of here is around Genesis during the time of the giants. They stole, murdered, even raped, families all for personal gain, whilst this was before any sort of laws were made in that land. Yes, I'm using the Bible as context, but it is a story, and one that indeed has credible merit.

Umm... I'm not sure I even understand how this story is even applicable or demonstrative of the subject at hand. I'll refrain from debating it's credibility though, since we already know my thoughts on that.

Evil is everything u want to do, but that no one lets you too

Good is everything people force you to do

Good and Evil are defined by the people's (society's) mind

I would say the definition of evil is: directly harming for personal gain. And the definition of good would be detrimenting yourself for the gain of others.

hm...does that mean to be good, u have to make someone else evil?

Anyone posting anything that doesn't agree with this:

Good and evil are illusions. Neither exist, only our opinions. Nothing is good, nothing is evil. The world isn't so black and white. It's all one big gray.

Is wrong.
