I think that instead of just getting Armor points by rating games and all that stuff, that you should get AP by getting high scores in games, and getting certain achievements. With the current system, any noob that stays around long enough could eventually get to King. I do understand that this could possibly mean that there would have to be more ranks since more people would be getting to king, since there are probably some people out there that are extremely good at games, but aren't much for posting comments.
But then people could get high rank by just playing the games for a long time until he was good at it... Anyway, this site isn't about rank. And does it really matter if there are a lot of people that are kings? People could still tell who's been around longer. I think the true ranking is by how much people contribute to the site, so mostly by forum posts.
Now then, you said highscores, correct Hotchurkey? How many games in the AG directory have highscores built into them (that are not from 3rd party sites)? Aside from that, what would happen when your scores get increasingly-lower in average? Would your AP count get lower from this happening?
If you aren't talking about highscores and just scores in general...How would AG make a system in which scores not from AG get converted into AP? Would authors from games in the past have to be involved, or could it just be the administration at work?
Would you get AP for each achievement given in an AG game? If so, how much would be enough for each? Would this pave the way for new ranks and rank curves? Something to think about and ponder while AG is slowly awaiting 3.0
AG focuses on high quality games rather than a competitive member environment. The Armor Points are supposed to reveal how active a member is rather than how skilled they are.
Personally, I find Kongregate an uncomfortable place to socialize. There's just to much junk scattered all over the place.
If you want that, go to Kongregate. We here on AG are not entirely dedicated to providing a platform for social flash gaming. That is what Kongregate was made for. AG was made originally for flash games and flash games alone.
I know this has been suggested a few times before, I just cannot find the link. It came to the conclusion that too many people hack games to get high scores.

I also remember reading something similar and may have the word 'spam' in the title? Regardless, I understand Hotchurkey's frustration but I agree with others that this is first a flash gaming site that offers free games. AP is a nice bonus to those of us that take a little time to give honest feedback to the game developers with spamming, flaming, etc.
