... you all know what death penalty is (hohoho!), but do you also know what your opinion to death penalty is?
Well, if u dont know, leave, think and come back if you have your own opinion, dont dare just to copie others opinions.
Oh well, my opinion comes first obviously, but first of all i want to kill a wrong reasoning in many of your heads:
Prisoners need something to eat and drink, of course, and all of you think now 'why not just killing this guy, he maybe killed someone and now he eats our food and drinks our water!' Well guys, prisoners work, so they dont cost us somethin, they kinda help uz, one them helps generally more than one of you, kk? Dont let me hear kill that guy, the money he'd cost could be mine!
Oh well my opinion... kill that prisoners. What said Ghandi? Eye for eye and the world is blind. Lol funny! I mean, how dare he to tell such a nonsense? Doesnt matter. Why not a beautiful list for my clever arguments?
> Who wanted to get killed? Yes, exactly, no one =>
The murderer hurts also the friends, the family of the victim. And whooops, a friend or a relative takes revenge! Lolol, we have another young murderer, oh dear... Why not just go let the magistrate decide what happens? Ouch! Big story. Also the murderer dies, and really no one wanted to get killed.
Well well, the murderer should get killed officially by a deathsman or even one relative or friend of the victim if he wants, then everyone had his revenge and hey, who wants to take revenge then? All not (enough) reasoned acts of revenge means for the man who has taken revenge the death, punto. And the next day pasts away as if nothing had happen...
Oh and yes, sry for my english dudes :P I hold my opinion basically, i will define it clearlier after some opinions with celver arguments will appear (and contra-arguments for the my basically hold opinion, lets see if you think something is already at beginnin stupid :P)
Way to prevent overcrowding? Promote the education system which will keep more kids in school and on track to living a more moralistic life where the need for committing crimes wont be necessary. Or legalize marijuana.
Yes, I agree with this. Spend money preventing the crime in the first place.
I think they should bring back public death penalties just because when they were public it lowered the crime rate for a long amount of time and kept balance, whether it was public hangings or they were shot down.

Actually the US prison system is so sorrily out of proportion because each state that operates a prison receives money from the federal government for each inmate that they house, and many municipal jails also receive increased funding based on the average yearly population.
This, coupled with society's demand that offenders be removed from the public as quickly as possible, has led to rapid overcrowding of our system, and the funds received are immediately used to hire guards and acquire new equipment in order to ensure the security of our incarceration facilities, with little or no concern for the education, rehabilitation, and psychological analysis and treatment of inmates.
Although I am a firm supporter of the death penalty, I feel that in order to utilize it properly we need to reform our system first. Initially I feel that we should focus on mental health and the possibility of rehabilitation primarily. If this is feasible and applicable we then move to education to create a more effective member of society post treatment and incarceration.
Our system of convicting and executing punishment needs to be reformed and put more focus on finding truth, not gaining convictions or acquittals, to greater ensure that only truly guilty persons are convicted. Although no system will be perfect, we can reduce the percentage of errors.
Finally, execution of sentences needs to be swift and severe, and if at all applicable, it should be as public as possible. If a person is convicted and sentenced to death the punishment must be carried out swiftly as opposed to utilizing tax dollars to feed, clothe, and treat the inmate. This is a waste of money that could be used to rehabilitate the lesser offenders, and ensure education and/or mental health assistance to those that need it, reducing the amount of inmates, and decreasing repeat offenders.
Death is better than having your liberty taken away for a lifetime. They, in essence, take a life no matter what happens. If they kill the criminal, the person's life is taken away. If they get life sentence, they have no life anymore, but suffer more. Death is instant. A real punishment lasts.
Worse than getting beat up and killed in jail. And atleast they didnt have to suffer the miserable years. For example: Would you rather be whipped 20 times every day and still live or just die quick?
However in our current legal system death is in fact not instant. Let me cite some references here for you:
Death row inmates in the U.S. typically spend over a decade awaiting execution. Some prisoners have been on death row for well over 20 years.
- Death Penalty Information Center
Turns out, it is cheaper to imprison killers for life than to execute them, according to a series of recent surveys. Tens of millions of dollars cheaper, politicians are learning
- MSNBC.com
Capital cases burden county budgets with large unexpected costs, according to a report released by the National Bureau of Economic Research, "The Budgetary Repercussions of Capital Convictions," by Katherine Baicker. Counties manage these high costs by decreasing funding for highways and police and by increasing taxes. The report estimates that between 1982-1997 the extra cost of capital trials was $1.6 billion.
- NBER Working Paper No. w8382, Issued in July 2001
Hence my position that prior to effecting capital punishment we must reform our legal system and our methods of rehabilitation, education, and execution.

Because it takes so long to execute them. They should just execute them all rapidly

Actually that's not true. The cost difference is due to the nature of the trials, which alone were shown to be 6-8 times more costly than a trial in which the death penalty was not being sought, although under law it could be.

I agree. The cost is due to the nature of capital cases. Because the death penalty is at stake the cost to taxpayers increases in the form of prolonged trials, increased juror selectivity, length of the trial, expert witnesses and a myriad of other costs. However once that system is fixed, and science allows us to be much more certain of the individual's guilt I believe that we need to revert to instant enacting of the penalty. No more spending 10-20 years on death row. I feel that if we truly believe that the penalty should be death that it should be swift and public. This will mitigate some of the costs related to the penalty, but I feel that publicizing it will have a great effect on society, even numbed as we are to violence by popular media.
Or we could think ahead and offer more government funded programs to identify those who may potentially commit crimes that are "deserving" of capital punishment through simple evaluations and observations by co-workers and friends. Those that have mental disorders that cause them to enjoy murdering (psychopaths) should be identified earlier by random screening at schools, places of employment, universities, etc. in order to prevent the problem.
Wouldn't hurt to help the lower class, through money and education, either.

That's a fantastic idea. Once we can get the bureaucrats to stop frivolously spending our tax dollars let's have them get right on that. Too bad it won't happen. It's sad, but it's the way things always seem to work out. The lower classes are always the last to get any attention. Too many don't vote, many have had their rights revoked, and the rest are kept uneducated enough that they just follow the masses.

So do something about it, don't vote we've established it doesn't work, volunteer your time to help educate the poor. Or, even better let's find a way to radically change the US government because voting wont work we need to be creative in a non-violent way.
I think you missed the point. It's all about punishment. People wait to be killed, if they get the death penalty. After those 20 years or so, they get killed. No more. The life sentence is a longer punishment. Plus, you only feel the two or three seconds it takes for the electric chair to fry you or lethal infection to poison you.
