So I know there's was already a thread about this but I stopped looking for it after 5 pages...
But anyways, this will hopefully be the official Black Ops thread. Talk about it, discuss it, etc. Obviously, the game isn't out yet, but w/e. (That was a ****load of commas)

1) You only get two perks in mutliplayer, and this combination of perks determines your third perk. 2) There is a new armour system, e.g. Cold-Blooded and juggernaut are armours you can wear (not much detail given on this). 3) The FAMAS returns, but is no longer a 3-round burst weapon. Instead it is full-auto. 4) There is no M4. Instead another new gun mentioned seems like it will take its place, the SIG Commando. 5) Other new weapons confirmed include the RPK, Skorpion and MAC11. 6) There is no commando perk. (:]) 7) The scavenger perk is included, but no longer replenishes equipment. 8) The One man army perk is also not included. 9) The highest killstreak reward (at this time in devlelopment) is 15. 10) There is no emergency airdrop, but there is a care package. 11) As confirmed before, killstreaks will not stack. For instance, if you get a 5 kills without dying and receive your killstreak reward, the kills you get with that killstreak reward will not count towards your next killsreak (e.g. 7 kill killsteak). You will have to get two more kills, in that instance, by other means to receive your next killstreak. 12) You can sprint to prone in the current build of the game. Basically this means you can dive straight on your belly after sprinting, instead of having to stop, crouch and than go prone. 13) The tactical knife is gone, while a new knife is being introduced: the ballistic knife. This is a knife that has a spring that can shoot a blade (in real life, not necessarily in the game). 14) The claymore is a piece of equipment, and you only get 1 per life. 15) Grenades are not considered equipment, and replenished by scavenger. 16) The M16 is in the game, and still a powerful weapon. (Or as Woody puts it, still the ****!) 17) The PSG1 sniper rifle is in the game. 18) UAV, airstrike and 3 types of helicopters are back as killstreaks. The Pave Low is confirmed as well, and has a feature unique to the game. 19) The SR-71 plane is also one of the killstreak rewards.
It finally looks like the CoD series will have a nearly perfectly balanced game. Plus no Tac Insertions in FFA, plus no OMA, plus not being like a failure the size of MW2. It looks awesome! THEY HAVE A PRACTICE SIMULATOR! HOW COOL IS THAT? No annoying Pro MLG snipers who's gamer tags must have random spacing and capitalization, repeated X's in their name and they think they are amazing because of SOH pro. Its disabled for snipers. It looks awesome and i was first doubting it but the trailers completely changed my mind.
Silly Then again, I don't know if this statement is true, hopefully, it is. I've also heard that Tactical Insertions are bright enough to light up a whole room, so it will be useful only to smart people (mostly snipers) who camp from a far distance.
Millions of people will be on it on the first day
Not me. I'm not that stupid to buy it first day, I'm going to wait for some proper reviews (non-professional as they're the ones who will give an honest opinion) and see the price drop.
nearly perfectly balanced game
Maybe. But they also have Last Stand, which will be a pain. The reason it's so hated is because, not that you have to bloody shoot them again (or that someone does it for you), but that they get a second of immunity in which they could easily kill you. Of course, this doesn't occur all that much because, as previously mentioned, MW2 players are scrubs on average.
THEY HAVE A PRACTICE SIMULATOR! HOW COOL IS THAT?
I'm sorry to say that I am skeptical about this. I doubt they could get an AI to be as fluent or jagged as a real person with the same tactics, etc. If they bunny around corners etc, good, but in the end I am still skeptical. But given the new AI types that I've seen in a video, it does look pretty **** interesting (but not all that realistic in terms of online - NOT real life).
I doubt they could get an AI to be as fluent or jagged as a real person with the same tactics, etc. If they bunny around corners etc, good, but in the end I am still skeptical.
Hi everybody! I get my black ops info from Black Ops 24/7 Spoiler and leak free!
i also watch an hour of game-play footage yesterday that gamestop did. i am very excited for black ops. I can't wait to pwn you noobs! The CoD series is the reason for my inactivity.so if you wanna trade Pokemon cards, contact me.
1. I am not the best Quickscoper. But I can do that. Used to, anyway. :P
You do not have to be the best. Read my sentence more closely. Nonetheless, trained quickscopers can know where their bullet will land ninety percent of the time.
Sounds like reaction to me, reactions are needed in the most competitive (real) matches, and you're often judged by your reaction.
Reaction is a mere part of the equation. Indeed, I could scope in, fire, scope out milliseconds after seeing you but that doesn't mean I'm accurate. To be able to fire and calculate where your bullet is going to land, how you can help it reach its destination etc. that I classify as skill.
Differentiate between the two. Pose the question to yourself, when you quickscoped was your only reaction to press buttons? Or did you do something beforehand?
SOMEONE'S into theirselves!
Tell me about it . . . At least he's willing to admit it.
Not me. I'm not that stupid to buy it first day,
Unfortnately, you do not constitute for "millions of people". You are only a single person, sorry to disappoint you.
I doubt they could get an AI to be as fluent or jagged as a real person with the same tactics, etc. If they bunny around corners etc, good, but in the end I am still skeptical.
You'd be surprised by the sheer intelligence of higher level AI. Ranging from the bots that miss every shot to the omniscient ones that are constantly converging on your position, they all present a suitable challenge. I was playing with bots and some games long after I was classed as seasoned in multiplayer.
Sometimes there are glitches. AI is a difficult thing to program and as such, there are inherent flaws in a bot's decision. Nonetheless they will make evasive actions, know how to shoot, use cover effectively and switch in various weapons appropriately.
Bot simulators are far from new. Treyarch have had a long time to perfect it, and any developers with a good background in games companies will have picked up a thing or two about creating very skillful and smart bots.
I don't know if any else has stated these things but I will anyway: 1. Two zombie maps have been confirmed for the game and a third mode called "Dead Ops" 2. It looks like Last Stand has been tweaked to make it less of a pain 3. There is a delay of about a half second before you can shoot after diving to prone 4. Stopping power and danger close have been removed 5. Killstreaks don't count towards other killstreaks 6. Split-screen online is supported (Guests online like in Halo 3)
Not sure how much of that has already been said, sorry if I am restating anything
No I just do it really. Unless I'm rusty, I clarify if my scope is actually zoomed in.
Reaction is a mere part of the equation. Indeed, I could scope in, fire, scope out milliseconds after seeing you but that doesn't mean I'm accurate.
Yes, it is part of the equation. It could improve accuracy as it could hit you and you react, doing it right (in the peiod of one quickscope). Better reactions allow you to think faster in terms of the game, and your accuracy / skill should also follow.
Unfortnately, you do not constitute for "millions of people".
... ? Given the quote you replied to, I will just highlight a word in it:
So let's go back to quickscoping for a seconds. I saw some videos on youtube of some guy quickscoping, but they were all close range. I want to see long range quickscopes dammit D:
Also, I got into an argument today at school with this very opinionated, stupid person, who called quickscoping "noobish" and it surely pissed me off. I really don't understand why people are calling it noobish. Even if it is considered "overpowered" you need some skill to do it, right?
There is skill that you acquire and utilise subconsciously. When you were first quick scoping you took the time to think about the positioning of the crosshair and could effectively judge your bullet's destination before it reached it. As you got better you could instinctively tell where your bullet would end up; it was second nature and that is a minor thought process that occurs shortly before the actual reaction, or during the reaction.
If it didn't take skill then I could've been professionally quickscoping by the first day, but I couldn't. That shows that there is something that needs to be learnt, because I can assure you I know how to click two buttons.
Given the quote you replied to, I will just highlight a word in it:
Not me. I'm not that stupid to buy it first day,
It felt irrelevant that someone should estimate the total number of players on the first day and you tell him that you're not going to buy it. That doesn't falsify his statement, it just felt like a tasteless attempt to start a debate.
but they were all close range. I want to see long range quickscopes dammit D:
Because the reason quickscoping became a commonplace practice because people wanted the power of a sniper rifle in CQB situations. It's so much easier to snipe properly (or "hardscope" at longer ranges, it would be pointless quickscoping at longer range or not quickscoping at closer ranges, use your tactics appropriately!
