Avatar has a generic plot with good, but not very unique graphics.
There is nothing special about the movie. It's just reusing the plot in movies such as "Dances with Wolves" but putting it in a space setting. Generic space marines that were as incompetent as imperial storm troopers
I really don't see what people really like about it
It's also a director FORCING his ideas onto you which isn't what a film is suppose to do
The character development, or lack thereof, was annoying and made me want to smack Cameron. Even though barely any development was there it was generic and cliche, how does that even happen?
The story line was boring and didn't make a bunch of sense; such as we can travel to Pandora but we haven't got the technology to improve basic weaponry? Also how exactly did they escape from prison and then take off from a secured military base right.
Now the graphics were spectacular, but they weren't good enough to redeem the movie.
I agree with samy above on the points concerning character developement and storyline, they were shallow and not at all revolutionary. Therefore this really isn't what makes the movie worth watching. What does, however, is the graphic and environment in 3d, I think it's astonishingly beautiful (especially the forest), and I'll never regret watching it that one time in 3d. But I must say, I would hesitate to do it a second time, and there is absolutely NO point in buying the regular dvd version IMO...
It was a waste of money. The 3D was horrible. The story bored me. I felt like I was watching 5 other movies. It was not worth it. Hopefully I'll never have to suffer through that again.
I watched it in 3D in the cinema, was epic, loved it. Not too long after it was out on DVD, it was our last week in school before we broke up for half term, and that's when teachers let us do as we wish, watch films etc, almost every teacher allowed us to watch Avatar. Didn't mind it at first then it got a bit boring, then even more boring. Now I hate it.
