In my opinion, its when Kratos dies in the end of GOW3, I was like aww damn but then it shows a blood trail to the water, which could mean he survived, but still its sad
Nintendo has some of the best sad ending to their games. If any of you ever played Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and got to the end where Shadow sacrifices himself. That's a pretty sad and somber moment right there when they start talking about him. Also both of the N64 Zelda titles had some pretty depressing parts to the endings.

Hehe I relate to you there too. It had a better feel to it than other games.
Most emotional things I've seen is The Pacific and Band of Brothers (Tom Hanks, awesome), but for video games. I am unsure. I'd have to go with the Call of Duty 4 ending when you see your "comrades" die around you and you go LS noob and steal Cpt. Prices kill. Nar I'm not too fond of the MP, but that was an important part in the campaign of course
The movie HERO (2002 asian film with Jet Li) was also quite emotional because of the irony in it. I don't want to spoil it so that's all I'm going to say .
Oh crap I just rememebered, Mass Effect 2 has a really good ending. I mean, I played a good guy (lol) but when I (spoilers!) saw Garrus get taken by the swarms I was thinking "any chance of getting him back?! PLEASE!??!?!?" then they flew off with him, which was painful to watch. Then I give an awesome speech and kick some seriously-genetically-altered-to-enslavement-alien-ass! Too much? Meh.
Oh and if I remember correctly - Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis had a good ending to it. It was so, so long since I last played it though, so it may have.
The saddest ending is the one in Mario: the guy kills Bowser though he knows he can't die and he'll be there in the next castle, and Bowser can't change his way of being because he was designed that way. Moreover, Princess Peach doesn't love him, so she just kisses him in the cheek to prove she is grateful, as he has spent his time travelling from world to world just to find Toad telling him the Princess is in another castle...

I hear you Falcon, I cry everytime.
Red Dead Redemption had me... feeling empty. Why couldn't he just leave with his family, and kill Ross later hisself. The sad thing is, I'm pretty sure something like that might've happened. -Sigh-
AHH!!! I did not like when Roach (MW2) got burned, and Ghost!! that was effin gay! i got sooo mad!! but i liked when you got shephard in the eye with a knife. sweet. Probly GoW3, that sucked. i was sad, and i almost cryed. and i never, NEVER cry. (may be an exagerration...?) lol
2 endings from the same game (tactics ogre: the knight of Lodis): 1. The best ending is where you save Eleanor and bring her to the final boss with you and after delivering the fatal blow to the boss she then consoles the fallen angel and persuades him to not turn the world into a hellhole. 2. The worst ending for the game happens when Eleanor dies. Later in the game you end up at the castle where the fallen angel resides and you meet a familiar face......Eleanor. At first I thought it was a joke, but it turned out to be a sick trick a wizard taunts you with, saying "It was your fault that I died". After this and 3 rooms later you find yourself at the angel's lair, when you get to phase 2 and kill him, he then kills you and your party and a storm raises over the kingdom that never goes away (everyone is fucked).
PS. Eleanor is the girl who saved you at the beginning of the game and also the one that you love. The game can last 16+ hours and you need to complete it within a certain time for the best ending, or just cheat your way through (best way).
[Also, here's something I forgot to add at part 1: After killing the angel, the hero says his last farewell to Eleanor, telling her it is too dangerous for him to be near her, since he's being hunted by the army of Lodis, but atleast he saved the world and stopped the army from obtaining the Spear of Longolicus? Longolilicus? Longicolnus, thanks wikipedia].
This was the most emotional game I have ever played, the dialog was in text AND it was on the gba. I would have also liked to talk about Golden sun 1 and 2, but I haven't completed em yet.
Red Dead redemption had a sad ending, Marston spends so many hours of gameplay to see his family again, and gets pwnt by guys with guns in the end D: I was shocked.
GTA4 has a sad ending too if you think about it; in the end you have to choose between the girl that he cared about, or his closest family member... sad :/
Between those two, I'd have to say Red Dead Redemption...
