There are a lot of pieces in this structure. You just can't see them. Use the detonator to kill the King. The Jester was just a sideline. Time to sleep and maybe I will work on it later.
I have almost a dilemma about this "lewel" copier on the CtC2 PE. I'm ashamed to say my stance on him has mellowed over time. To be clear, I'm talking about the guy who has been making copies of other peoples levels for over a year under the name 'lewel (#)'. He's surely made hundreds by now. For a longtime he made virtually identical copies, now I've seen him be sloppy on one area of a level and he is even starting to add flourishes to copied maps. This is even worse in my opinion. If you look now at 'This Week' in CtC2 you'll see that he is dominating the front pages with copies including more of 'choisart' among others. Come to think about it, how many times has that level been submitted anyway? The dilemma is: on one hand he is stealing others levels which is wrong and makes people mad. On the other hand the CtC2 PE is like a sea of useless junk, really. None of the good builders post on there anymore, actually the only 'good' ones submitted are the copies he puts up. Not that it's good that he copies, but the ones he copies are better than average. Those are the only view of decent stuff most people are going to get going on there for the first time. It's not really right and I know if he copied mine I'd want to have him beheaded. How many of you guys think you'd post more in the CtC2 PE if it weren't for the copiers? joeybetz seems willing to delete some copies, the original has to be submitted with the copy though which is only fair. What if we demand from 'lewel' (we'd post a message on the game comments) that he change the name of his copies. He could only name them: 'COPY OF(name of original castle) by (name of original builder)'. I don't even know if that's good or not. What do some of you guys who have posted in CtC2 think about it?
Tris, I have mellowed a bit as well and Joey Betz will do nothing about it so, WTF? Lewel has pulled out some classics and gave them back to the minions. WTFCares if they get a lot of votes and plays because once they hit the 4th panel, they are buried forever in the abyss of vote cheating!
The thing that gets me is that he is able to copy EXACTLY the thread which means he has hacked the system. He may add stuff to the level and change the bomb count but, the level is totally hacked!
The levels I posted on Joey's profile shows a flaw in the middle of the map. It is exactly the same in the copy and the original. You will see a block slightly out of position.
So, actually, we should admire this idiot or, is he just a person from fired from AG who is pissing us off?
I don't know. At first I also worried that it was some kind of hacking of the code directly, then I convinced myself I saw some minor variations between original and copies. I'm looking again and I'm not sure what I was seeing. For all I know it is hacked because he has copied very complex stuff. Some levels by 'choisart', which he has copied repeatedly, are admired as complex design feats. They take skill and patience to build, it seems unlikely that someone would be able to mimic them so exactly - though not impossible.
I was thinking of maybe submitting a couple to joeybetz for deletion. retrophil, he's copied your Viking Ship again - it's a couple of clicks down 'this week'. I have a bunch of links of his copies mostly from a while ago. They include copies of RupenP, valboss84, maybe SSTG - I'll have to go through them. The question remains is do we want to stop him because it is not probable that AG will implement the changes to CTC2 PE to stop his hacking? One of the reasons that CTC2 PE is so popular is that people can submit anonymously unlike the PP. If he hacks your "lewels" it means he is impressed. It seems he only hacks the best and, like I said before, once it gets to the all time list, it will soon disappear into the abyss. My "shrinking castle" in CTCPP was hacked so many times it was unbelievable! Yet, only the original remains on top as a staff pick. My original Multiple Flip has also survived after many many copies. I dunno, both of the above threads can only be proven by our community postings and copies are just copies. We are just historians of brilliant creations and, if someone wants to showcase our stuff, so be it. Sometimes it is nice to see it again even though it is under an anonymous name. "Lewel" copies exact duplicates with some slight changes - you have to give him credit!
