if england had gone with the rest of Europe then England would be better off in many ways.

England would not be better off if it followed the Euro. The pound is still stronger in many respects.
Also; look at what happened to Greece after they got rid of the drachma. Complete turmoil.
And the only reason that England is under such a crisis at the moment is due to the Tories destroying our economy to make the already rich people just a little bit richer.
P.S. We English are not sheep and wont follow the herd even if it does mean that soon no one will even know what the word sterling means. lol.

I forgot tha tthe pound is technically called the pound sterling. Whenever I think of sterling, I usually think of sterling silver.

the money problems greece are having aren't to do with the money change. it's 'cause of borrowing from other countries too much.

Hmm.. Since I'm pretty much bored right now.. Old advertising was always good.

Once upon a time, not only did manufacturers not care what we did with their product, they seemed to build entire ad campaigns around tempting us to use them to kill our children.

Reminds me of meat, dog pounds, impounds and pound weights. I prefer dollar shop/store. I am relieved New Zealand changed from pound to dollar in 1967... We also adopted decimal currency around that time.. Thank goodness.

Now all that's left is worldwide adoption of the metric system.

i have never actually heard someone say dollar store with words.

I hear "dollar shop".

I see many good things, including suffocation.

They don't make experiment sets like they used to.

Not looking very likely to be honest, I personally think that it would be more likely that it ended up as everyone having a different currency due to major conflicts in ideas and such.

There aren't any in Sweden. And that's all I'll say about that...

Right, I can understand that. I personally prefer measuring all weight except for human weight, in metric units. As for the usage of pounds when weighing people, I've sadly grown an accustomedness to it and until I have a feel for using kilograms to weigh people, I'll continue to use pounds.. Yes.

One day, we'll get a universal currency. One day.

All I can say, is that that day is far far away.
