Nintendo DS. Nintendo DS Lite. Nintendo DSi. Nintendo DSi XL. NINTENDO 3DS???
Don't get me wrong, I love Nintendo, however, I think sometimes they're just trying to rob me. Especially when they send one of their representatives to break into my house, knock me out, and then steal my wallet as well as many other of my prized possessions.
However, the graphics on that thing look AMAZING. Seriously, just look up the remake they're doing for MSG:3.(Metal Gear Solid:3) Freaking amazing. Oh yeah, and they're re-making Ocarina of Time. Kind of excited for that too.
Overall, I dunno if I'd buy it. I may wait until the price goes down a bit. Not too long though, otherwise they'll come out with the 4DS: You're actually inside of the game at this point.
Uh... This isn't a thread about science, but do you have any idea why it's called 3D? Let's recap, shall we?
There are 3 key dimensions, Length, Width, and Height. The reason why movies are said to be in 3D because movies without 3D lack one of the 3 dimensions: width. With 3D, width is there. Much like the other DS's, where height was lacking which is why it was 2D. The 3DS is pretty much being made around Pokemon Black and White because they are allowing the player to move in all directions. There can't really be a 4th dimension in video games to be honest.
With that meaningless lecture over, I think the 3DS is worth it. they'll probably come out with improved versions, but there's no point to them. I had the original DS when it came out in 2005 and never upgraded to DS lite or DSi, and it still works. If I buy the 3DS, that'll be the only kind I'll buy.

I think the DSi and 3DS should get their own categories. Every now and then Nintendo will make small tweaks to an existing model, normally these are ways to pull more money from your wallet. However, larger instalments like the DSi and all their smaller improvements are probably worth it - just wait a while and see the next slightly-tweaked model come out. 3DS is definitely of a different calibre to the others, and seeing as it's not going to be released until around April 2011 they're not really spamming you with that. XL is all a bit over the top, new-model spam but the 3DS is certainly a fine instalment in my opinion.
I'll probably wait a one or two months, just to see if a new better design comes out.

FFS. It's a DS shaped like the Lite (as far as I know) with 3D graphics, better graphics, backwards compatibility, game installs onto internal memory, touch screen, probably cameras and I think I heard news of gyroscopes which means some games might support motion sensing.
3DS is alone... Just like Gameboy... Gameboy was a game alone but Gameboy advanced was the next generation's game until it went to Gameboy advance SP... They were the same... same games same everything except for somethings... The 3DS worths it so much ... It has a wide screen 3D Graphics without Glasses HOW COOL IS THAT! It WORTHS IT SO MUCH
Nintendo has said that Nintendo 3DS is a whole new console itself, unlike the DS and DSi.
Personally, I have the DSlite. It's half-broken for some reason, I think I grab it way too hard and the pressure is really huge. Therefore, I'm going to buy the 3DS. Not only because of that, but also because of the games that are going on that console like Paper Mario 4 and Ocarina of Time remake. AND you can play DS games on it which is awesome, and too bad you can't play GBA games on it. That's my biggest complaint with the DSi, otherwise I would've bought it.
Hey, that looks pretty nice! So far, Nintendo has failed for me since the making of the Wii and DSi. I'm going to have to check in on the 3DS later on when more information about it comes out later. I want to see if it is ACTUAL 3D!
I don't think it's going to be actual 3D. I think it's just going to be the element of 3D that's in console games (see my lecture on page 1 for more details). Like it's going to have all 3 dimensions.
