Who needs a camera/microphone in the game system? Isn't that what webcams are for?
Firstly, other games consoles have microphones why not the DS? One thing that the DS allows for is voice recognition, or at least detects input via the microphone and can implement that technology to games -- that's extremely clever: calling your dog's name and watching it run towards you in NintendoDogs or blowing into the microphone to snuff out a flame in The Legend of Zelda. Even if you don't use the microphone what's the harm of it being there?
Secondly, unless you hadn't realised the DS doesn't have any USB ports on the DS so there's compatibility issues between the two devices. Once again, even if you don't use it there's no harm in buying the DSi just to take photographs of yourself or your family or whatever else you might be taking photos of (O_O).
Or the internet?? And the 3DS? 3D effects??
You can get internet connections from your DS. Granted it won't run Java Applets or Flash but it'll still give you an internet connection. Just because you don't need 3D it doesn't mean other people won't want it, it's a big leap in technology.
It just can't compare to the PS series, Xbox series or the Wii. This is all my opinion.
Christ, really? Maybe that's because an Xbox 360 is like 10 times the size and more costly?
No x10! I upgraded from a DS Lite to a DSi and it was a waste of my money. o.e I looked at it collecting dust on my desk the other day, and realized I haven't touched it in forever! No way I'm buying the 3DS. But it has a catchy and clever name. xD
