Now, this thread is intended to be serious, about the 'Mayan calendar' Which ends in 2012. I myself am very open to all possibilities to this life, to how we began, how we proceed and how we end.
The Mayan calendar tho, it is too much of a Gospel to be taken seriously that these Mayan's knew when time would indeed end for the world, and so they decided to stop doing the calender.
There are SO many more explanations for the date ending when it did, an yet the first thing us as depressed human beings do....we immediately think "ahhh yes, this must be when we all burn up in the sun".
So my question is this:
Do you believe that during 2012 the worlds population will decrease dramatically, and the rise of suicide will increase to an all new high?
Theory: Back in the 1930's, in New York a radio station played a story of 'War of The Worlds' it was read so good, and with such realism, people took the story to be a real news report, which resulted in thousands of people jumping off roofs, killing themselves, and ultimately saving themselves from unknown torture and destruction.
Taking that in to context, that was JUST new york, Put the world in the spotlight now, and people still have not become any wiser to facts and mythology, The world will become chaotic, certainly as the 'End Of The World' comes closer more and more people will take their lives and their families lives to save them from the uncertain fate....my belief is we will still be here in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2025, 2050, 2080....by then i would of died of old age, but the world will live on for an unknown amount of time
The movie 2012, REALLY did NOT help the cause against this hypothetical talk, however i had a very good read some months ago from a scientist who has proven what happens in 2012, it's to do with the north and south pole and the movement, it is suppose to create a colder climate at both poles, something alone those lines, i will try to find it, as 2012 could possibly be the cure to 'Global Warming'?

There were even people who suicided when someone said that black holes would turn up from the experiments at CERN and would swallow the earth, although this is bullshit.. so I think YES, there will be many many suicides, maybe not a record but still waves of 'em..

What i allways think about is, WHY WOULD YOU KILL YOUR SELF IF THE WORLD WAS ENDING?!?!?! Trying to survive and stuff is what i would be doing. what is killing your self going to accomplish, to me those people are week to kill them selves in fear of what is happening.
You said there would not be a huge spike in suicide coming 2012, I stated that everyone who would commit suicide could have easily died in one of the other hundreds of "end of the worlds" such as 200.

Just because they stopped the calender doesn't mean the world ends then. All because of a stupid calender? This is complete bull****.
I seriously feel like punching people out who say the world is ending in 2012. Just because a movie and a calender say so it doesn't mean it!

i saw this show on tv called Conspiracy Theory, and they said that scientist believed a massive solar storm to occur in 2012, and that it would pund the earth with fire due to giant hole in atmosphere or something. IDK about this it was just a show. they also showed some of the under ground fire proof submersible vaults that are being built and have been built since year 2000. i am not how sure how legit this show is though, only one season with 7 episodes on history channel i think, second season in production. And even if something did happen the government will only help the "elite" (people with money -_-). meaning they will pay big bucks for shelter. Greedy bastards still care about money even if the world was ending.
I dont think any thing is going to happen though, the world wont end i mean.
