I read this book called the giver and it ended up that all of the people in this communtity except for two couldn't see color. It got me thinking about how a person could describe color to someone that didn't see color. It seems like it would be nearly impossible. I think sound would be just as hard to describe as color. Which do you think would be harder to describe and why. Also, how would you describe sound and or color.
You are completely right, I can't think of any way to describe the way that I see color, or the way that I hear sounds. This subject came up a couple of days agao, when I was talking to my stepdad about people that are color blind. I find it impossible, but that's just me.
Same here I couldn't think of anything. I don't think they know quite what they are missing though since they've never had it. Unless the bacame colorblind/deaf during their life.
Tod walks past Jim. Jim: Hey Tod, nice day today eh? Tod: Yeah I guess it's nice and warm. Jim:Yeah and the sky is a great shade of blue! Tod: And so is the grass. Jim: What do you mean? The grass is green! Tod: No it's not it's the same color as the sky, and the same color as the tree bark. Jim: No it's not, all three of those things are different colors! Tod: What do you mean? They all look the same. Jim: No their not! Are you color blind? Tod: I don't think so. Jim holds up crayons that he found in his suitcase. Jim: What color is this? Tod: Blue. Jim: No it's yellow. How about this one? Tod: Orange. Jim: No, I think your color blind? Tod: No, this can't be happening. Tod jumps off of the nearest bridge.
See what I mean, this is why we don't tell people that they are colorblind. Sorry I had to do this.
i am actually color blind to an extent mainly blue purple yellow green are near impossible to see difference, but my great grand pa i think it was (i never met him) is color BLIND. He could only see black and white evidently. Kinda sad, i couldnt stand not seeing any colors, as they are what add the "feel" to things.

At least you can see some colors, I'm sure your thankful for that.
Monochromacy-the lack of ability to distinguish colors; caused by cone defect or absence.[6] Monochromacy occurs when two or all three of the cone pigments are missing and color and lightness vision is reduced to one dimension. definition from wikipedia.
and the colors of the rainbow HERE is what they look like with some different typed of colorblindness
i cant see a number in either of these. Althouugh colour blindness can be mixed, almost every male in my family has it. Really though is usually minor to my knowledge, not really interfere with life.
btw if anyone else can see a number in those ssay it, because i seriously dont see anything
I think I would relate colors to tastes and smells as well as to "temperatures." IE, you could tell people some colors are warm and others are cool. You could say that different color are like different tastes and smells; there's a fluid gradient between all the different colors, yet there is a clear disinction between the "main" colors as well. Just like there is a complete gradient between tastes such as bitter and sweet, yet a sharp distinction between the two.
