In my many hours of using the Internet, I've posted my fair share of forums. But they never went through publishing without being trashed. Allot. For example, a few months back, I made a forum post that was quickly thrown together without consideration of spelling or grammar. But when I checked back, I found a slew of mean comments, the most hurtful of which was 3 paragraphs long, and said "I would rather slit my wrists and put them in hot water than mangle the English language, which you have clearly done" and things of that manner. My point is that there are plenty of mean people who trash the work of 13 years olds. But I ask this: Why would you go to the trouble of trashing someone's work, when you don't even know the author?!?!?!?!? I hope you understand what I'm trying to get through.

Well gee, I'm 13 and totally have terrible grammar. It's so very hard to write with proper grammar so that I can be understood.

Keep the good grammar and people won't bother. Face it, the internet isn't made for people to be nice to each other.

Just ignore the people. What I do is type my post into Microsoft Word and then copy and paste it. I am terrible at spelling but, this way it is perfect.

What I would do is leave the site completely, if there's no nice users there I don't see a point of pursuing anything.

Also get firefox, instant spellcheck ~

Download Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox if you need a spell check. If your grammar is still bad then make it better, this is the internet.

Good grammar and spelling are essential to internet posts as they are a quick and easy way to check for intelligence. No one should base someone only on grammar and spelling but neither should it be ignored.

What do people find truly amusing about trolling and doing stupid things?

I wonder what mankind is up to ...

For example, komputerkurt just gave a wonderful example at the end of his post...

No, there's a big difference. Armor Games has never had a quality troll but we've had a couple jerks. Trolls just do it for the lulz jerks (note people aren't jerks because you're awful at spelling and/or grammar) actually think they're right.

Because people don't have the attention-span nor the time to get to know someone before they reply to a certain thread. You're judged off your appearance, however you make it be.

Armor Games has never had a quality troll

420?

Eh, I suppose he was pretty good. And two years ago we had uberpreist and his 20+ alt's he was actually smart though.

But there is a difference between a jerk and a troll.

420 was only a troll because he made multiple alts to circumvent bans...not so sure about the priest guy.

Trolls can be jerks, but so can everybody at times.

People get satisfaction in different ways. On the Internet, especially, people can derive satisfaction by putting other down because of the anonymity we have.

Trolls can be jerks, but so can everybody at times.

Well, some forums ask that you try to have half-decent grammar and spelling. Obviously mistakes will be made, and we cannot edit our posts unfortunately, but trying is important. What you see as trying really hard, someone may assume the one or two mistakes in three paragraphs means you're an ignoramus (which, most likely, is not necessarily the truth).

Another thing is that these internet jerks are typically arrogant and have little to no regard for the slightest thing that annoys them. Some people are strong with writing, others are not, and the jerks will pray on that to build themselves up and make them feel like they're Godzilla or something.

Some suggested ignoring it, but I would say comment back to them. Tell them a few spelling errors isn't worth them getting their knickers in a twist and you had a few good points. The jerk may think one grammar slip up negates the validity of a point, which makes them a grammar nazi that so many people tend to hate. My friend's brother has corrected the few spelling errors I've made on Facebook. I've grown annoyed and weary of that, and almost tempted to say, 'well, at least I wasn't still living at home with my parents when I was 22.' Tempting, yes, but I stepped back from that one because he's not an 'internet jerk', he's just being obnoxious.

And perhaps that is all it is sometimes: someone being obnoxious to someone else because they can.
