It's July, and you know what that means: NFL training camp. It's time for the World Cup passion to subside, and the NFL to once again take over the interests of stateside sports fans. So tell me: What are your predictions for the upcoming season, and who are your ultimate sleepers and busts? What is your favorite training camp headline? And, in light of the LeBron situation that has finally ended, who do you think is being the biggest drama queen (i.e. Albert Haynesworth, Brett Favre), or is being screwed by his franchise (i.e. Vincent Jackson, Tom brady)?
Last year was Eli Manning's breakthrough season. He passed for over 4,000 yards for the first time, and he recorded his best QB Rating. And this year is supposed to be the emergence of Hakeem Nicks. If Nicks performs as well as predicted, and Steve Smith shines again, there's no telling what Little Brother can do. Expect a career year rivaling that of his brother's.
Yes, the Jets may not be the best team in New York this season. Manning has a very good O-Line, and up-and-coming star receivers. He is a much better quarterback than Sanchez, but like pauler said, give him time. When LT left the Chargers, I really felt that Phillip Rivers would soon become the new face of the NFL now that he doesn't have to hand off to LT 30 times a game. But now, with Vincent Jackson suspended three games and threatening to hold out, Rivers may be set back once again, not to mention he has a new rookie running back who's been promised 300 carries.

You don't really realize this, but the Jets have a really, really good O-line too. I felt kinda bad that Alan Faneca got cut, but we have Nick Mangold, D'Brickashaaw Ferguson, Damien Woody, and now Vladimir Ducasse as well who I really want to see play. We also have good receivers, I think. Jerricho Cotchery is good and makes amazing jumping catches but he's kinda slow. Edwards is ok but he drops too many balls, hopefully he'll get that worked out. Holmes is good but he's suspended 4 games
I really hope Revis gets the extension. I think it's kind of ridiculous that some players are unhappy with their salaries like Chris Johnson, but if he doesn't get the contract he'll probably go somewhere else, which I hope doesn't happen either because he is the best in the league.
Chris Johnson is acting like the high school quarterback who thinks he's too hot to trot. He thinks he's the face of the league because he rushed for 2,000 yards. Do you know who the last guy to rush for 2,000 yards was? Jamal Lewis. And do you know what he's done since? Nothing much.
last season..the pittsburgh steelers had their worst season in years(they my team) mostly becasue polomalu got injured and then rothlesberger and then they kicked out santonio holmes..anyone think they can have a good season this year and make the playoffs?
Seriously, come on Google. This thread is to talk about the NFL, not to claim superiority and bash each other's sports. This is supposed to be a thread of friendly debate and conversation. Well, ramzaman, to answer your question: The Steelers are in a very difficult division, and the Baltimore Ravens are clearly the forerunners, with the addition of Anquan Boldin virtually sealing the rest of the division's fate. I'm not too sure Cincinatti can have a breakthrough year like last season though, so the Steelers will have to battle for second place and a wild card berth with Big Ben suspended at the beginning of the season.
Um, please elaborate your reasoning 201. The Philadelphia Eagles were 11-5 last season, but the departure of Donovan McNabb may hurt them. With receivers like DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin, however, I see McNabb's departure as a small stumbling block at best, although they will miss him, because he's one of the cities treasured sports icons (who cares what DeSean Jackson thinks). As for the New York Giants, they were 8-8 last season - underacheiving at best - but Eli Manning has finally matured as a star quarterback who can handle the spotlight of the New York media, and Steve Smith and Hakeem Nicks are poised for breakout years, not to mention they still have a great pass rush. As for the Seattle Seahawks, well...sorry dude, I can't say anything good about them.
I agree vinster. Sanchez did not impress me last year. He missed many easy oppurtunities, and at times, he could not find the open receiver, probably because his field vision is not fully developed yet. At times, it seems like he was bailed out by his good receivers and running backs. But that didn't surprise me, because Sanchez never impressed me when he was at USC either, and I always thought he was a bit of an overrated quarterback at the college level who should have stayed another year in school.
