Holiday is defined as a period in which a break is taken from work or studies for rest, travel so why should holidays and this applies mainly to secondary and possibly tertiary students that holiday homework doesn't exist... if you give us a time away from school then why give us work to waste our time being antisocial inside on our desk wasting away
I think they shouldn't give any homework during holidays, because most people won't make it and it is really annoying when you think you can relax and you still have to work!
but it is good for your brain, because when you went on a holiday without doing a thing, your IQ can decrease with 13% or so!
i'm glad they don't give homework in the summer holiday though
I don't do it anyways. Waste of my time. Personally, if I need to, I just do it in class. My crap work is easy like that, and not even remotely stimulating. Something that was given for two weeks of break I get done in 20 minutes. >.>
I find it rather pointless. Giving us work isn't going to make us remember it. What if you do it all the first day? It automatically negates any effect it ever had/

My IQ is fine tyvm. My mental stability is starting to wear, but I am just as intelligent as I was a month ago.
Over the course of the summer, if you spent even 30-60 minutes doing homework, you could achieve all your studies which have been set.
Truth of the matter is, school is a way of motivating us for life, but in small doses, it gets you prepared mentally and physically with not only the knowledge, but the realization that when you have to leave school to find a job, you don't get summer breaks. So if anything they keep your brain functioning over the course of the summer period, if i was you though, do all your homework now and you won't have to worry about it later on.
I have to write a 5-page text on something we didn't learn, solve anothe 5 pages in math and something else I don't remember what.
It doesn't help with not forgeting.
An individuals experiences do not reflect, and are rarely applicable to the whole.
The writing, I can agree with you on, but not with the math. If it's something you won't be using otherwise, homework keeps it in your head, if only long enough to finish it.
but I am just as intelligent as I was a month ago.
I might say the same thing if I hadn't forgotten half of the trig formulas I had memorized just a month ago. That's about it, though, just the trig formulas.
I would rather do my own "holiday homework" because a) it has no stupid useless and pointless information because I choose it. b) I won't have to answer stupid questions that ask you to basically copy paste and paraphrase c)I obtain much more information from my own learning then the school homework... d)I would read fiction books that I actually want to read and am not forced to read by the school.
I actually have summer homework, but it is because I chose to do so. I am taking a math class over the summer, so I can be one class ahead of the "smarter" people in my grade, who are already taking a higher math class.
EX: In 8th grade you could take Algebra instead of regular math. So those who took Algebra in 8th grade (only 20-30 can take it per grade), took Geometry in 9th grade, then Advanced Algebra in 10th, FST in 11th, and AP Calc or AP Stats in 12th grade.
I took Algebra in 8th grade, so I am already higher up in math classes, but since I wanted to help make college a little bit cheaper, and because I enjoy math, I am taking Advanced Algebra over the summer, so that in 10th grade, I will be taking FST instead of Advanced Algebra.

Well, all I can say is, when you feel that homework and your studies are essential, then you will understand why holiday homework is important. For one, it keeps your mind fresh and you won't forget what part of the curriculum you're covering. Another thing: Sunday is the day of rest. Holidays are days of remembrance; they don't have to be rest days if the government authorizes it.
