after reading WW3...who would win i thought that i would ask what would spark the flames of war. WW1 started by a political matter of Archduke Franz Ferdinand being assassinated for example... i think that it will start over something like oil or possibly water.

How on earth could anyone defend themselves against the deadliest and most powerfully explosive device in the world from impacting a huge city???

For American's it's known as the Strategic Defense Initiative, or Star Wars Program, it's designed to use lasers to shoot down hundreds of missiles within minutes of their launch. So while the idea is there, I have no idea on it's deployment, however tactics do exist.

The problem of shotting down an inter-continental missle is that it is a "smart" missle, meaning it can change it's direction in flight by outside controls. To hit it, you need to have "smart" missles that turn very fast, or you could launch multipule "smart" missles and treat them by the computer as a whole. Both are extremely hard, expensive solutions.

That's why you would be using the laser, the smart missile wouldn't be able to avoid an x-ray pulse or a laser very easily.

It would start in the Middle East for control of the oil then slowly start bulding until the whole world would need to take a side. Then countries like Iran and North Korea would start using nuclear weapons and everyone would start doing the same thing. However in a nuclear war, no one wins.

We have more than enough food, it's just not distributed equally.

Oil would be over even before WW3. That would be the biggest threat. It would be why M. East would be involved too. Everybody would go there.

you are correct in some decree but it is not the main cause.. we have always been an aggressive animal. how do you think we got to where we are. when we first began we were aggressive because we needed to survive and in that we were also cautious. we then became territorial among our own species, fighting over resources such as water. we cannot say that what we fight over hasn't changed. territory is what we fight over.

One day, we're going to run out of room, then what're we going to fight over...the moon?

"History teaches that war begins when governments believe that the price of aggression is cheap." - Ronald Reagan

That about sums it up, and very eloquently also, I believe.

you are taking what i said literally. i don't mean land.. remember that conflict isn't always actual fighting. religion doesn't actually fight but back in medieval times the church controlled the king which controlled the country. and if anyone was a non believer than they were punished. and look at advertising they are trying to control what you buy. so when i talk territory i mean land which equals to everything (resources, housing, economy etc) and people's minds for today.

I understood that, but that had already been brought up, so I decided to attempt to bring up a new topic...apparently it didn't word D:

oh but why would we start using the moon.. the only reason to use the moon is of its distance to the Earth.. unless there is materials there that can be used which i believe there is a possibility that there is. Mars would be a better candidate for a colony but the moon could be a testing site before we colonize mars
