after reading WW3...who would win i thought that i would ask what would spark the flames of war. WW1 started by a political matter of Archduke Franz Ferdinand being assassinated for example... i think that it will start over something like oil or possibly water.

If the Muslims were able to reach the Capital, then the Muslims would probably win. If you are able to capture the capital of a country, you pretty much win.
Israel has been fighting since the day the UN declared it was a nation. There might be another 6-day war, but I doubt it will lead to a world wide conflict.
Most likely the world need for natural resources (as SoSolidClaws stated). The world could be in a World War, there's war everywhere in the Mid-East, in Africa there are multiple Civil Wars. So all it takes is the Russians, and a few other countries from Europe.
Fresh water, not many people realize how little water is really available for humans to consume, and with Global warming kicking in it will probably be hard to come by >.> as time goes on
It will most likely be over a resource. But I doubt it will be over oil as by the time the oil runs out in most places mankind will most likely of developed new ways to make energy.
One idea of mine is that it could be over a substance called Helium3 which is very good as a fuel for nuclear fusion reactors. Helium3 is very common on the moon and a war over the moon would be interesting. Please not this is just an idea and probably won't happen.
Another possibility is uranium due to its use in nuclear power. It could become scarce over time leading to a war. A war which could be fought in Australia the world largest supplier of uranium.
I would have to agree and say it would most likely be due to resources. That is a very broad term, however, i believe it will be the resource that is running out quickest and most important..
I think WW3 would be over power.The ability to possess things like atom bombs and hydrogen bombs or maybe even the use of laser or plasma technology(sorry if im being to sci-fi)would surely enter one mans mind.The ability to call yourself ruler of the world would be great but probably the only way to achieve that position is through war.Or maybe somebody wanted to make a country produce resources like oil.Or maybe like holt24 said one religion would probably rise up and take over the world for their god.Well I said enough.
