First: i didn't know where this topic should be, so i thought i put it in the tavern

But i hear from a lot of friends that video games improved their english, and a teacher of mine said: boys who don't do a thing but gaming score low in every subject, except for English. What's your opinion about it? Did you also learn other languages other then English?

Though a video game isn't the best place. Heck, an internet forum is better.

Aye, that is true, but still a vid game helps
I learned basic english from tony hawk games... I remember I really didn't know what the words meant so I just did some stuffs... I picked it up quite easily, and now I speak english and even some wizzkids claim that if they didn't knew I was the writer, they would think an englishman had written it.

Yes, literature is one of the best ways to improve your vocabulary. Read, read, read!

Practically, a forum is like a book, you know?

Really, Danish, Finnish? What games do you play?

I learned this by online multiplayer games... I learned most of the langs with Wolfenstein Enemy terretory. I lead an international clan, and we had some finnish and danish guys around. They taught me.

Games improve your languages in your unconciousnous. They don't make us native english, but they do definitly teach us, whilst we don't always know they do.

You can learn some spanish in sword of the new world... If I'm right... Was a long time I did it, and I quit it because I lagged alot on there. Great game nevertheless.

I learned Swedish and English via games, which I think is really cool.

Video games aren't evil.

I've pretty much spoken English since I could talk. However video games have helped my vocabulary, but I would say that AG has helped me much more.

I know English (and Russian) so well that video games don't help at all.

I also learn some japanese words from things like anime, but that's a tv serie, not a video game:P

I think video games do help a lot with english grammar and so on that's a good thing =D

Yea AG also helped me, just things like videogames and talking with other people on forums and so on are helping improving my english

Unfortunately it doesn't help me with my pronunciation =P

Yes... I played Boggle when I was 7.

That isn't a video game, it's a board game.

And no, I don't play much of them, and most of them have basic English.
