I procrastinate a lot, and with high school starting soon I figured I should try to stop.
So, does anyone know any good tips on how to avoid procrastinating?
One that I have used to moderate success is to procrastinate procrastinating. for example, Ill think "Ill do this now, but that later" Like say i have to do 2 things, Ill do the easier of the 2 then go play games or something then do the second thing at last second.
You could say if i do this now then i don't have to rush in the end, i will get a better note, my parents will be proud of me and i can reward myself with gaming or something
also you'll once have to face it, when you keep procrastinating it will only be more annoying to start with it and why procrastinate the things to tomorrow, when you can do it today? ^^
Aren't you supposed SUPPOSED to be a procrastinate? No wait, that's at home when your parents are giving you lists of chores. A simple helpful tip I'd say would be to chew some mint gum or suck on a mint. It'll release a chemical in the brain that makes you more alert. I even remember some of my previous teachers handing everyone mints before we took a big test.

Ya, my teachers always give us mints while taking the ISAT (big important government test that is used to determine funding and how well the teacher is doing. most people agree it is inaccurate and causes more harm then good)

Why do it today when it can be done tomorrow, or the next day, or the next day,...

Well I think the main reason I havent tried to fix it is because I still get some of the best grades in my class, but in high school i want it to be even better so I can get scholarships and stuff like that. Also, the material will probably be getting harder.
I think you need motivation. I dunno how you motivate yourself exactly, but you need to do so. If what you're doing is important, think that if you procrastinate it you'll embarrass yourself severely when the consequences result.
wouldnt that cause an endless loop? cause I could procrastinate procrstinating tomorrow, etc.
Motivation.

This is true, but its hard to get motivated to do boring math work that you could of done two years ago, at least thats how it was in middle school, Im hoping high school will be a bit more challenging.
Highschool is a whole new challenge. The work is put on you; if you do it, you usually pass. If you don't do it or turn it in late it is marked down percentages or not taken as a grade.
i've found the easiest step to not procrastinating is to not procrastinate. If you have a paper due in one week, do it as soon as can and put some effort in to it. Then i usually go back about two days later and re-read the paper. You'd be suprised how many things sound awkward and so on.
you learn to not do it as the pressure is more on you. If you don't do it, its really all on you.
How about just do it? Forgo anything that you want to do until that something is done, homework, chores, etc. You will feel a lot better when it is done the moment you have it. You will have a clear conscience while you are doing the things you want to do afterwards.
Well the only thing I can tell you is that you have to convince yourself that procrastinating is your worst option. Many people procrastinate because they feel that they will have ample time to complete the task at the last minute. It's best to just realize that you won't always have as much time to finish as you think and it's better to just finish so you aren't worrying about it up until the time you actually get to it.
Hmm... tips for anti-procrastination, how about forget the task at hand. That way you don't have anything to procrastinate about! On a serious note, I can't give you helpful advice because I procrastinate too much myself...
There is even a pattern for my procrastination that I have noticed: -Think about getting it done ASAP, but only tommorow -Do something else to get myself 'motivated' and do the work tommorow -Tell myself I lack the concentration to do work, so I'll do it tommorow -Failed to get it done quickly, might as well just do it tommorow -I feel bad at myself for not doing the work, so I'll do it tommorow -The deadline is coming up, I'm kind of scared what my teacher will say so I'll just run away from the work and do it tommorow -It's the last day, but I'm not fully awake yet so I'll just leave it till the last hour -I've left it too late so I can't get good quality work done, I'll just do it half-assedly
Maybe I should get something done about my procrastination, I'll sort something out some other time 0.0
I procrastinate ALOT. After winter break for 3 weeks i didnt turn in a single sheet of homework for Algebra 1 lol. and if i get 3 weeks to do a poster-board project, i wait til i have 2 days left or even just not do it.
What i TRY and do is sit my lazy arse down, play some music, or do something i like on the side like eating (no im not fat) or something.. its just dedication really, just sit down and do it, pretend like procrastination isn't even a thing
