This topic is based upon your personal opinion on whether abortion is wrong or right. I personally believe that it is wrong, and have many reasons for it. You may challenge me if you wish, but please make sense!

I don't believe there is a database with people's DNA listed.

In Scandanavia there is. I think it's awesome :P

that's ignorant of the fact that anyone born has the opportunity to be anyone.

orly? I think that question's a good one to debate.

I think anyone born has the oppurtunity to TRY to be anyone.

you don't need to try when anything could change your life such as a new religion or an abandoned one changes your life. and what i meant was that if theres an abortion you'll never know who it would be.

Actually in the US you are required to submit to a DNA test in the event that you are convicted of certain violent or sexual crimes. That DNA is then stored in a database accessible by law enforcement officials. If I'm not mistaken there are some European countries which do the same.

Yes, that is true. I did know that. I believe I meant to mention, what if the r apist is a first-time offender?

what if the r apist is a first-time offender?

the rap ist should have their life investigated and any evidence should be produced in a court of law. ra pe however is still a terrible crime and should always be punished.

then the rap ist will be taken before a court of law where any evidence will be used to determine the sentence. an investigation of the rap ists life will be conducted for a past of crime or abuse.

Efan, read a page 39.

There would be no DNA from the baby to cross reference with a first-time offender.

If he is a first-time offender (or if his DNA cannot be found in any DNA database), the only thing that can be done is cataloging it. So that if he commits an other felony -and gets caught, you can arrest him for the r ape also.

yes, but the dna can be taken from the fetus, after it is aborted. there is still no need to keep the vhild.

I am really surprised all of the mods let this topic continue when we had a huge, already-established abortion topic previously. Not sure how this got skipped.

Anyway, what seems to be the debate currently with just abortion?

I think we're still stuck on the same old 'It's murder' Vs. 'It's not murder' stuff. Hardly any of the abortion threads I go to seem to get past that.
the killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law. In the U.S., special statutory definitions include murder committed with malice aforethought, characterized by deliberation or premeditation or occurring during the commission of another serious crime, as robbery or arson (first-degree murder), and murder by intent but without deliberation or premeditation (second-degree murder).
-Dictionary.com

thus not murder there is no malice in it the premeditation isn't the intent to kill so it's not murder period

locoace, it is really all semantics. I agree that it is not murder, but not because of the definition of murder.

My stance on abortion has to do with timing. It really depends on WHEN the organism inside the woman would be aborted.

Yes - I agree with that Asherlee. A cut-off point is definitely vital to the whole thing. Deciding on the cut-off point is the hard part.
