Let's say, hypothetically, heaven was a real place, and after death, you got the choice to either go to heaven or stay down on earth as a ghost. Which option would you choose and why?
Keep religious discussion out of this, because that isn't the point of this thread.
If we are a ghost, can we do anything as a ghost? Such as interact, haunt, or possess people?
That's the general idea of a ghost. Watching people is more of something a spirit would do. Ghosts and spirits have their differences.
My question is, can a ghost leave earth to go explore the rest of the universe? I'd choose ghost if that was part of the package. You can't really explore the universe when you're up there in heaven.
Because venereal diseases are probably still painful as hell in Hell?
Anyway, it'd be cool to be able to wonder around the universe - I damn well hope that we'd have instant translocation abilities though. Seriously, I don't wanna spend millions of years getting somewhere.
I'm pretty sure ghosts can teleport. If they can't, they can certainly fly at remarkable speeds, so it wouldn't take them millions of years to get anywhere.

If they're as painful as hell, and hell is already painful, you wouldn't feel any extra pain, right?
I dunno - I don't think Pastafarian hell is all that painful besides from the stale beer and infected strippers and so a VD would probably cause a fair bit of pain.
Moe i dont think muslim means that when they talk abot virgins i think its a way to represent cleaness and holiness because alot of my family is muslim and im christian.

I suppose you're talking about christian heaven? Then I'd choose to stay on earth. Why:
1. I would be able to see how life continues to develop, how my kin is doing, what new decoveries are made, and visit all places on earth I'd like.
2. In heaven, assuming only believing people enter here, I would have to cope with all of them, and I'm not saying that this is per definition a bad thing, but maaaaany religious people are just the blindfolded type of human I don't like, and being in a crowded place full of those people would be rather like hell to me.
But no ones is in heaven yet because jesus hasn't come back yet and you want have to cope with them because only a believing person would get him unlike yourself.
The first post said that in this thread we would assume the existence of Heaven hypothetically and ignore the religious debate around it and just discuss going there or staying here. Perhaps a better word would have been 'aradise' it has slightly fewer religious connotations.

You should try reading your own holy book a bit more. According to the Bible, no one went to heaven before Jesus died on the cross, and went down into hell. His sacrifice is what humanity needed to overcome the original sin of Adam and Eve. It's awfully sad that an atheist should have to correct a christian on their own religion. Super sad.
