Before saying anything read THIS THIS THIS THIS

First, i have to say, how important is it we know what religion he is?
To me, 0. I allways regarded him as Muslim, but now Christian? Is this all for attention for the media?

Do any of you all care if he is religious or what religion he has? I know i dont give a damn.

What i want to know is if any one actually cares whether he has a religion or not. I sense debating about how politics should not including religion due to bias opinion.

and furthermore it is not a mosque. it is a community center-esque building that will have an area to pray in. just because st marys hospital has a chapel doesnt make it a church, does it?

Let's be clear - it's an Islamic center. The analogy you suggest doesn't work because there is a serious disanalogy. The primary function of a hospital has nothing at all to do with religion. These Islamic centers, on the other hand, have obvious and clear religious intentions.
While the center may be more than just a mosque where people can pray, that doesn't mean it's not a religious center. I live in Bible Belt of the US where Christian churches offer far more to their members than just prayer services. Many of these have childcare centers, game rooms, lounging areas, coffee shops, etc. But they're still churches.

While we should try to advance an argument to defeat or at least look past the ignorance of those Americans opposed to these Islamic centers, this analogy simply won't cut it.

I honestly don't think Obama is Muslim. Otherwise, he would have requested a different holy book for his inauguration. That isn't to say though, that he didn't have a hint of Muslim teachings in the past. His father was in that area after all, so there would be a chance that he would have at least taught him the religion.

And you're right. When you're president, religious affiliation doesn't matter; experience does. The only reason I could think of religion being beneficial to a president would be to use it against other nations. Being a Muslim nation, Obama could have used the experience he (may have) learned from his father or whatever, in order to establish diplomacy or to understand what that nation is going through in a psychological standpoint.
