Okay, so here's the arpeg. What do you think?
Battlefront 1861

Battlefront: The military sector in which actual combat takes place.
The American Civil War began on April 12, 1861 when the Confederate assault on Fort Sumter brought tensions between the northern states of the USA and the southern states of the USA to a boil, finally kicking off the bloodiest conflict in United States history, and in only four years had claimed the lives of anywhere between 618,000 to 700,000 Americans. Now, it is your turn to enter the war. You must fight for the Confederates or the Union, and turn the tide of the War Between the States.

Name: First and last name, please. Middle name optional. Do not include rank.
Age: 14-60. Neither army was very picky about who they allowed to enlist. They needed everyone they could get.
Side: Confederate or Union.
Home State: Not required. Connected to "side".
Rank: Private, unless your class is Officer, in which case you start off as a Lieutenant.
Health: 50/50
Class: Look below to see the classes.
Skill: See "Classes"
Perk: You can have one perk. Check below, in Perks.
Weapon: See "Classes".
Clothing: Confederate Uniform or Union Uniform, according to your side, Haversack(kind of like a backpack, it's what you carry your stuff in).
Other Equipment: Bedroll, Canteen, Rations[1 week]. For the rest, see Classes.
Allies/Troops: See Classes.

Classes(all the classes are the same for either side).
Cavalryman: The horse-riding branch of the military. Used as reconnaissance, or to harrass the enemy slowly but surely, so that they will either slow down or stop. Starts out with a Trained Horse, a Pistol[2/2], and a Saber. Skill is "Horsemanship", the ability to train a horse for battle, and skillfully ride it.
Officer: The high-ranking commanders of the battlefield. Used as an in-combat commander, the Officer not only commands troops, but can take out enemies of their own. Starts out with a Saber, a Pistol[2/2], and 10 Troops. Skill is "Command", to control troops on the same side as you to do what you tell them to.
Infantryman: The on-foot backbone of the war. Used for nearly everything, from defense to offense to drawn-out battles. Starts out with a Musket[5/5], and a Bayonet. Skill is "Sharpshooter", the ability to reload your weapon faster and aim more accurately.
Artilleryman: The "big guns" of the war. The artillerymen must work as a seamless team, because it takes five or so people to operate a cannon, but when it works, it can take out nearly anything. Used for offense or defense. Starts out with a Cannon, a Snake(sharp, swordlike tool that they use to load the cannon, but can also be used as a makeshift weapon), Flint and Tinder, 5 allies, and a Knife. Skill is "Heavy Artillery", which is the ability to load and fire cannons and mortars accurately and more quickly than untrained people trying to operate them.
Other: You can create your own class, HOWEVER, it must be approved by me. Please attempt to make it historically accurate and do not make it overpowered.

Perks: A perk is a little something extra. You can gain perks throughout the game by doing amazing feats, but most of you are going to end up with only the perk you pick at the beginning, so choose wisely! Your perk(s) are what set you apart from other soldiers just like you.
Sharp: Players with the "Sharp" perk are more skilled with a sword, and can wield it much more efficiently than soldiers without the perk.
Resiliency: Players with the "Resiliency" perk are not only more resistant to disease, but if they do get it, it does less damage and goes away quicker. Plus, they can go longer without food, water, and sleep without feeling the effects.
Squeaky Clean: Players with the "Squeaky Clean" perk automatically take much better care of all their weapons, meaning they're less likely to malfunction(and blow up in your face).
Locked and Loaded: Players with the "Locked and Loaded" perk are better with small arms like pistols, meaning they're more accurate with a pistol and fire faster.
Other: As with classes, you can make your own perk, but also as with classes, it must be accurate, not overpowered, and must be approved by me.

Also: I know that in the Civil War, disease actually killed many more people than bullets. However, just to make this interesting, you can and must find some way to make sure that your character doesn't get sick(they will, just not with a fatal disease, as long as you take precautions. If you have Resiliency, chances are you won't even get a minor disease). So, read up, and find out how you can save your character's life with some common sense!

Moderators: This game will start out with one moderator, Piester22, who helped me create this RPG by supplying accurate historical information. He can play the game, but can also respond to other players' scenarios(of course, Pie, you should be fair or you won't be a mod for long) and will also be giving you a dossier before each battle. As the game goes on, I may or may not add more moderators.

Any questions, comments, suggestions, or anything, feel free to post!

Good luck on the Battlefront!

Journal of Capt. James Brown of the Union Army
Battle of Bull Run
I was still surprised and uncertain with my new command, but I covered it up with a barrage of brisk orders.
"Corporal!" I barked at him, and the youthful soldier started.
"Yes, sir?" he asked.
"Send out these orders immediately! First, we need to fortify our position. Increase defenses. Have our men shovel out trenches and dig their heels in deep. We won't give them an inch. We need sentries, placed at regular intervals around the camp. If someone so much as sneezes somewhere in the perimeter, they better have a handkerchief."
"Yes, sir!"
"Well, what are you standing around here for, corporal? Get going! We haven't got all day, now get the orders around."
The corporal saluted, then left to spread my orders.

i give him some of my food, a sip of water, and try to wash the dirt off of his shredded leg area. If i happen to have any alcohol then give him it to ease the pain...
also look around to make sure its not an ambush.

Journal of Pvt. Jesse McCrory of the Confederate Army
July 20th, 1861
I removed the bayonet from my musket(one of the many things we'd had to do time and again in training) then crouched down low. I slowly and stealthily made my approach, then stood quickly and grabbed his face. I had been planning to cover his mouth and hold his head so that when I slit his throat, minimal noise would be made. Immediately, his eyes started to bug out, and he struggled. I held the bayonet up to slit his throat, but he pushed me down and put a whistle up to his lips, then blew. A loud, sharp piercing whistle, annoying and high-pitched rang out for half a second before I impaled him by throwing my bayonet. It went straight through his throat and stuck there, just the handle sticking out. Blood spurted from his jugular, and with his vocal cords slashed and his throat nearly severed, the overseer immediately stopped whistling and fell to the ground, twitching. He was dead as a doornail, but the artillerymen had been trained to listen for that whistle, and even that single breath was enough. They turned towards me, and I had just enough time to snatch a flintlock musket off the body of the overseer before the artillerymen began to charge. Luckily for me, they weren't armed. Unluckily, they did have a snake that they used to load the cannon, and it was plenty sharp to kill me. In addition, they had me outnumbered by a 25-1 margin. I didn't like the odds. *end of page*

Journal of Pvt. Phillip Vasquez of the Confederate Army
Battle of Fort Sumter
I half-limped, half-crawled into the medical tent. Inside, if possible, was even worse than outside. Screaming soldiers lay on tables where they were amputated(though they could not feel it), the stench of blood filled the air, and medics walked by calmly, not caring about the pile of disconnected limbs in the corner or the corpses piled just outside. Seeing me, one of the field doctors walked over quickly.
"What happened to you?" he asked, sounding almost bored.
"A rifle blew up in my hands," I responded.
"I see...well, we can help you out with your wounds, but even after proper medical care is administrated, I still don't think you'd be fit for combat," the doctor told me.
"That's ridiculous!" I exclaimed.
"Oh, don't listen to me," he said, sounding annoyed. "After all, I'm just a doctor."
"Fine..." I muttered angrily. "But we better not lose!" The doctor shrugged.
"Eh, I'm not making any promises," he answered.
"Shut up," I told him, irritated. He'd obviously heard this kind of thing before.
"Here's what we're going to do to you. First, we'll use chloroform to dull the pain. Then, we'll remove any bits of shrapnel we happen to find. Then, we will stitch you up, using silk as our suture. Finally, we'll bandage you and you'll stay here for the rest of the day to rest and recover from your wounds."
"Sounds good," I told him.
"Anything you might want us to change about our procedure?" the doctor asked.
"Why are you asking me all these questions?" I demanded.
"Informed consent," the medic explained. "We like to have your consent for you to go under the knife, and I like people to know what's going to happen to them before they agree to it. So, d'you want to change anything about the procedure or not?"

I told the Yankee to stay where he was, and he replied something to the effect of "Since I've got nothing better to do...". I got the impression he was being sarcastic, but ignored it. I searched the area thoroughly for any signs of an ambush, and found none. Apparently this guy was legitimately in need of help. I returned, then I gave the Yankee a handful of food from my rations. He ate it, wincing at the taste as we all did(being that he was not starved, but only injured). Then I gave him a sip from my canteen, and he drank it quickly, in fact I had to stop him before he drank too much. Even I knew that drinking a lot when you're dehydrated is bad for you. I wished that I had my flask with me so I could give it to him to ease the pain, but I had nothing. I washed the mud and blood off his legs as best I could, then stood up. He attempted to do the same, but his legs shaking, he fell back onto the ground. I frowned, feeling sorry for him.
"What can I do for you, friend?" asked the Yankee. His voice was louder and less cracked since the water.

I sat down and borrowed a cloth from a private sitting next to me. I dampened the cloth with a little bit of water from my canteen, and wiped down my rifle, cleaning the chamber, barrel, and stock. Then, I took a dry cloth and wiped it dry. I wasn't very good at cleaning my rifle(miss that Squeaky Clean perk yet?) but I tried. It was good enough for me. There was a lesser chance of it malfunctioning now. I stood up as the corporal from earlier came in.
"Sir!" he greeted me, saluting.
"What is it, Corporal?" I asked.
"Sir, I've come to report that I've spread your order, sir! All soldiers in good condition are fortifying our position."
"Good," I nodded.

I put the overseer's gun over my back, slinging it on, then with a solid pull, I managed to yank my bayonet out of the overseer's throat. It came away with difficulty, and was followed by a spurt of blood from the wound. However, in doing so I dropped my musket on the ground. The overseer's body fell to the ground, and I turned around and ran. I had no time to be sickened by the blood splattered on my uniform, no time to turn back and grab my musket, as I ran away as fast as I could. It was only after about a minute of running that I realized I had been screaming. The artillerymen chased after me for a minute and a half before one of them caught up. The rest turned back to do their job at the cannons. The one who was attacking me slashed at me with his snake. I managed to dodge it by a hair, and it instead cut a large gash in my grey uniform. My only weapon was the bayonet that I had in my hands, and I couldn't grab the musket from off my back without getting gutted like a fish. *end of page*
