Okay, so here's the arpeg. What do you think? Battlefront 1861
Battlefront: The military sector in which actual combat takes place. The American Civil War began on April 12, 1861 when the Confederate assault on Fort Sumter brought tensions between the northern states of the USA and the southern states of the USA to a boil, finally kicking off the bloodiest conflict in United States history, and in only four years had claimed the lives of anywhere between 618,000 to 700,000 Americans. Now, it is your turn to enter the war. You must fight for the Confederates or the Union, and turn the tide of the War Between the States.
Name: First and last name, please. Middle name optional. Do not include rank. Age: 14-60. Neither army was very picky about who they allowed to enlist. They needed everyone they could get. Side: Confederate or Union. Home State: Not required. Connected to "side". Rank: Private, unless your class is Officer, in which case you start off as a Lieutenant. Health: 50/50 Class: Look below to see the classes. Skill: See "Classes" Perk: You can have one perk. Check below, in Perks. Weapon: See "Classes". Clothing: Confederate Uniform or Union Uniform, according to your side, Haversack(kind of like a backpack, it's what you carry your stuff in). Other Equipment: Bedroll, Canteen, Rations[1 week]. For the rest, see Classes. Allies/Troops: See Classes.
Classes(all the classes are the same for either side). Cavalryman: The horse-riding branch of the military. Used as reconnaissance, or to harrass the enemy slowly but surely, so that they will either slow down or stop. Starts out with a Trained Horse, a Pistol[2/2], and a Saber. Skill is "Horsemanship", the ability to train a horse for battle, and skillfully ride it. Officer: The high-ranking commanders of the battlefield. Used as an in-combat commander, the Officer not only commands troops, but can take out enemies of their own. Starts out with a Saber, a Pistol[2/2], and 10 Troops. Skill is "Command", to control troops on the same side as you to do what you tell them to. Infantryman: The on-foot backbone of the war. Used for nearly everything, from defense to offense to drawn-out battles. Starts out with a Musket[5/5], and a Bayonet. Skill is "Sharpshooter", the ability to reload your weapon faster and aim more accurately. Artilleryman: The "big guns" of the war. The artillerymen must work as a seamless team, because it takes five or so people to operate a cannon, but when it works, it can take out nearly anything. Used for offense or defense. Starts out with a Cannon, a Snake(sharp, swordlike tool that they use to load the cannon, but can also be used as a makeshift weapon), Flint and Tinder, 5 allies, and a Knife. Skill is "Heavy Artillery", which is the ability to load and fire cannons and mortars accurately and more quickly than untrained people trying to operate them. Other: You can create your own class, HOWEVER, it must be approved by me. Please attempt to make it historically accurate and do not make it overpowered.
Perks: A perk is a little something extra. You can gain perks throughout the game by doing amazing feats, but most of you are going to end up with only the perk you pick at the beginning, so choose wisely! Your perk(s) are what set you apart from other soldiers just like you. Sharp: Players with the "Sharp" perk are more skilled with a sword, and can wield it much more efficiently than soldiers without the perk. Resiliency: Players with the "Resiliency" perk are not only more resistant to disease, but if they do get it, it does less damage and goes away quicker. Plus, they can go longer without food, water, and sleep without feeling the effects. Squeaky Clean: Players with the "Squeaky Clean" perk automatically take much better care of all their weapons, meaning they're less likely to malfunction(and blow up in your face). Locked and Loaded: Players with the "Locked and Loaded" perk are better with small arms like pistols, meaning they're more accurate with a pistol and fire faster. Other: As with classes, you can make your own perk, but also as with classes, it must be accurate, not overpowered, and must be approved by me.
Also: I know that in the Civil War, disease actually killed many more people than bullets. However, just to make this interesting, you can and must find some way to make sure that your character doesn't get sick(they will, just not with a fatal disease, as long as you take precautions. If you have Resiliency, chances are you won't even get a minor disease). So, read up, and find out how you can save your character's life with some common sense!
Moderators: This game will start out with one moderator, Piester22, who helped me create this RPG by supplying accurate historical information. He can play the game, but can also respond to other players' scenarios(of course, Pie, you should be fair or you won't be a mod for long) and will also be giving you a dossier before each battle. As the game goes on, I may or may not add more moderators.
Any questions, comments, suggestions, or anything, feel free to post!

Journal of Pvt. Phillip Vasquez of the Confederate Army April 15, 1861 Exhausted and afraid, I rolled out my bedroll in the dirt and laid down on it. Almost immediately after my head touched the ground, I was asleep.*end of page*
April 16, 1861 I awoke with a start to some sort of munching sound...I looked up, and froze. I wanted to curse but I didn't think it was safe. Next to me was a near-full pack of wolves. They were all munching on the bear carcass that I had so carelessly just left lying on the ground. I grabbed around for my weapon, but saw it dangling a few feet away from me, cautiously pointed outward. Great. That was the one thing I'd remembered to be safe about, and not the bear. Here I was, lying on the ground, with an oblivious pack of wolves chowing down on a dead bear not five feet away from me. My weapon was as far away as the wolves were, and being how keen their ears were, if I moved they were bound to hear me. *end of page* What will you do?

Journal of Cpt. James Brown of the Union Army July 21, 1861 "Lansing, Smith, go widdershins around the camp. I'll take Cooper and we can go clockwise. You there, private-" "Baker, sir!" finished the private. "Private Samuel Baker, of Ohio." "Baker. You trail behind us, but don't leave the perimeter of the camp. Just fill any gaps we happen to leave behind." "Yessir!" Baker saluted almost enthusiastically. I returned the salute and he walked off, his weapon held lopsided in both hands. I shook my head and continued. "Like I was saying...be prepared for anything. We know there's a slight risk of Rebs attacking-" "High risk," interrupted Lt. Cooper. "Moderate risk," I compromised. "Moderate risk of Rebs attacking...just do what I said, keep your eyes open, and be ready for anything." Well, patrolling was awful. What can I say? Who wants to be lugging around a heavy musket in the middle of the night, in boiling heat down South? But as exhausted and overheated as I was, there was still a bright side to be seen; not a peep from the Rebs all night. They were probably still licking their wounds, so to speak, from their loss at Bull Run. *end of page* What will you do?

Journal of Cpt. James Brown of the Union Army July 22, 1861 "Hup hup!" I yelled. "Wake up, men, there'll be plenty of time to sleep when you're dead! Right now there's work to do! You, you, you," you point at three random soldiers in succession, "you're on sentry duty. Patrol the entire brigade constantly, let us know if there's a threat. The rest of you, get off your lazy butts and MOVE! Washington's not gonna walk over to us!" Groggily, the soldiers stand. Many yawn or stretch, then they put on their uniforms, grab their weapons, and get into marching formation. You keep up a brisk pace for most of the day, with you leading at the front, when suddenly you look back and see one of the sentries you called, the one patrolling the back, run up. "Sir!" he calls breathlessly, saluting. You return his salute. "What is it, private?" you ask. "There's been some kind of...disagreement or something in the back, sir," he replies. "Something. The entire back half of our force has been stopped thanks to this. I think you should check it out, sir." I paused, drawing to a stop, and with me the entire company stopped. *end of page* What will you do?

Journal of Cpt. James Brown of the Union Army July 22, 1861 I decided to walk back to the end of the group, instructing Lt. Cooper to keep everybody walking. He did so, and the Union soldiers started walking again, slow, sure, but still moving. Finally, I saw two soldiers, each stopped completely and staring at me. I couldn't help but feel self-conscious as I walked up to them. "Why have you stopped?" I demanded harshly. "Your orders were to march, now march!" "I refuse to do so, sir," one replied. "As do I," added the other. "Oh, well you refuse to march, eh?" I asked, with as much hate and derision as six and a half words could handle. "Tell me your names, you scum." "Lance Corporal Jacob Miller, sir," the first soldier replied. "Private Scott Andrews, sir," the other answered. "Well, Lcpl. Miller and Pvt. Andrews, do you miind telling me the exact configuration of your idiot brains led you to think that just stopping in the middle of a march was okay? You've delayed us by at least half an hour, you nitwits!" I roared in their faces. "We're injured, sir," Pvt. Andrews replied, pointing at his foot. Indeed, his foot was bleeding from a small bullet wound near the ankle. "We can't continue." "Oh, well then what's all this drivel about you choosing not to continue then? I-" I stopped suddenly, seeing that Lcpl. Miller's foot had been shot as well, in the exact same place. "Uh huh. So you two decided you'd take the easy way out, huh?" "I'm sorry, sir," Lcpl. Miller replied. "Really I am. But I'm just not built for this war." "Not built for the damned war!?" I screamed. "Do you really think any of us actually WANT to be here? It's miserable for everyone, but you've got no choice!" "We can be discharged on the grounds of injury," Pvt. Andrews replied. "And besides, you've really got no proof we did it on purpose, do you?" "Yeah," Lcpl. Miller added on. "We can just say the Rebs shot us in the battle and we've struggled through the pain till now..." "Please, sir," Pvt. Andrews pleaded. "I'm barely fourteen, and Miller is only sixteen. Can't you please just let us go?" *end of page* What will you do?

Tell them that sure, they can stay here, not able to march and the Rebels can pick them up and they can all have a tea party.hmmm not very scary.....Say okay but i will have to take all your supplies now. (including clothes) that will get them to march...hopefully....(only do the second one if the first doesent work)

But the problem with that is, they can legitimately not march anymore. They shot each other in the foot, on purpose, and now they seriously can't march with the rest of you. But it's your choice to discharge them thanks to injury, send them to the medic to patch them up then make them continue, punish them, etc...
