I think we can compare the two. Who knows? Maybe in another thousand years, Christianity, Islam, etc. will all be school subjects, sort of like Greek Mythology is?

Is it possible that religion changes drastically over the times?

No, you obviously don't...

Here is just ONE of many examples of this cruel god...

Exodus 32:35 And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.

How is that not cruel? He is omnipotent. He could have just came down and said "Wow man, not cool." instead of ruthlessly murdering thousands.

halogunner as your vice presedint I feel obliged to tell you that if God showed himself you would basicly be forced to beleive but God doesn't want to force you he gives you a choice.

This is the master argument of christians: free will. But if god showed himself we still would have our free will. We would have to cope with a new fact, that's all. There would even be people who still wouldn't accept him as god, or think it is a hoax or so. So why not showing himself?

Back to topic: if you think christianity will always prevail, just think about one thing: how did it even get so far? Why did people loose faith in pagan gods? Because they were forced to by the people who believe in Yahweh. Because christians eventually outnumbered other religious communities.
Let's hypothetically assume that a new religious community sees the light of the day and grows, slowly but steady, so that one day it outnumbers christians, and begins to force christians to accept their own belief; this would mean the end of christianity as a world religion.
This is pretty much the same scenario that happened with other, ancient religions. They got overthrown, and nobody before could have fathomed what eventually happened. Unfathomed as it was, it did happen yet.

What about them Avorne.HahiHa i'm pretty sure if God showed himself you would know it wasn't a hoax and you would honestly say if God showed himself you would't beleive in him? That would take some guts.

When a person who says 'Thats not God!' in front of him gets disintegrated, I'll believe it.

I never said that did I? If God showed himself to the world at large and would be kind enough as to step into a laboratory and submit to some tests to prove He isn't a fake then I'd happily say - "duuude, I'll worship you later but for now - you wanna go grab a beer and chill?"

Avorne I'm sure there are other ways to prove he is God other than testing him in a laboratory.and while we're at what tests can you do to prove if he is or isn't God

Guys, can you make a new thread with the title Free will or sumthing like that? I plead guilty, I did talk about it too, but we need to get a bit more on-topic. I'd really like to know what you would answer to the second part of my previous post holt24.

He could spontaneously create matter and or energy within a closed environment - that might help prove it. Anyway, what other ways do you suggest of proving that he's god? If it's as simple as just claiming you're god then:

HEY EVERYBODY - I'M GOD!

I always thought I am god, I mean I have as good a claim as the Christian god! Look, I even have a book!

Even better, I can prove I exist!

HahiHa only the holy spirit can change a mans heart to beleive in christianity. The the Bible does not tell people to force others to convert so by doing that they went against the will of God.Anyway I am hungry, and my pizza is done so you can continue this debate without me.Goodbye and don't forget to look both ways.

Great. Can the other 2/3 of the "omnipotent" ghost make people believe?

The the Bible does not tell people to force others to convert so by doing that they went against the will of God

Wait a second... Didn't I just post something when god himself did just that? "Do as my son says, not as I do..."

Can you take your eyes off of your bible for more than a second? I don't f***ing care what's written in the bible, it's a fact that christians forced people to accept their belief. Not the bible: People did! If you're threatened that you die if you don't accept Jesus as your savior, I think it would be brave but foolish to say 'Sorry I don't believe in him, I already believe in something else, stab me if you want, I don't care.' Because they did stab, they did! How do you think christianity spread so wide? By giving away free bibles and hoping for the best? If you think so you're a lost case...
Your problem is that you argument with your bible, but fail to see that people didn't always act exactly like it tells them.
