I think we can compare the two. Who knows? Maybe in another thousand years, Christianity, Islam, etc. will all be school subjects, sort of like Greek Mythology is?

Is it possible that religion changes drastically over the times?

It's not like the Catholics have made drastic changes however. Your statement is completely irrelevant, for if Greek mythology and chistianity were both presented with today's science, mythology would die within the week

Mythology would die because it is still mythology, if the greek cults would have endured the centuries, they would have adapted and would not be less improbable than christianism today. Also catholics maybe did less changes than others, but still can't be compared to how it all started. Or are you implying that dragons, Leviathan and Behemoth are more probable than cyclops, Medusa and Hydra?

Can you take your eyes off of your bible for more than a second? I don't f***ing care what's written in the bible, it's a fact that christians forced people to accept their belief. Not the bible: People did! If you're threatened that you die if you don't accept Jesus as your savior, I think it would be brave but foolish to say 'Sorry I don't believe in him, I already believe in something else, stab me if you want, I don't care.' Because they did stab, they did! How do you think christianity spread so wide? By giving away free bibles and hoping for the best? If you think so you're a lost case...
Your problem is that you argument with your bible, but fail to see that people didn't always act exactly like it tells them.

Yeah we probably did try to shove our religion down peoples throats... because during those times being out of the norm meant you were an outcast. So yeah because the majority of people felt it was the norm to believe in a God, like the greeks believed in many Gods, then it probably was right (during that time) for people to critize someone. Because to them not believing in God was complete blasphemy.

So yeah i suppose christianity was harsh on people, but then again, so were whites towards blacks (in the southern states) and so is north america towards most muslums and eastern indian people (these days). But anyways, yeah we were harsh but its not like we are coming in here asking athiests to prove us wrong. In fact 99% of every athiest vs christianity thread is started by an ignorant athiests, as if its there right to intrude on our personal beliefs. I would be understanding if a christian started the majority of these threads and athiests were defending themselves, but its not that way. And yeah its easy to brush it off saying its a "debate", but i suppose i should say that every athiest compared to most religions are more arogant, ignorant, and more commonly closed minded (kinda like how that one person said christians have no morals... o well what ever).

ps its not a debate when you got 20 some people bashing a religion. cool stuff.

And as for this thread, yeah i would believe that us believing in God is like the greeks believing in zeus... Because its obvious. If i went in depth on this it would be a waste of time.

But i would like to say that one other major thing kinda remind me of christianity also. I found that prometheus seemed alot like Jesus. Prometheus of course the one who gave mankind fire (of which the Gods made) was strapped to chains and eaten alive by a giant (eagle i think) every day for eternity. Because he was immortal he could regenerate each day, and again eaten alive, all because he gave humans fire. Of course the humans needed fire to live, so it was like he was dying for us. Which again sounds alot like Jesus.

Religion will be around for muchhhh longer. So don't count on anything. There are too many people who are religious in the world for it to die out. Maybe in a few thousand years if we're lucky.

You're calling us the ignorant ones? We, that provide proof and evidence to back up our assertions? We, that don't use circular reasoning and 'it's always been like that so why should we change' and 'goddidit' to explain things? You think that we're ignorant?

Judaism, though it may be a God dating further back into prehistory.

And, since the only deference between Judaism and Christianity is Jeebuz, his stories also have many origins. The virgin both has many similar stories in other cultures, his &quotowers" are pretty typical besides the catering powers, and even the cross may have come from the Egyptians.

The ankh, the Egyptian symbol for eternal life.

Because none of you ever try to understand our points of view and end up starting a stupid criticism over christianity because you feel like its your responsibility. And then afterwards you complain that christians are the ones shoving it down your throats, when all ive ever seen is athiests shoving it down mine. For example.... Every athiest topic on this athiest biased site.

Keep in mind many of us once held a theistic belief and eventually rejected it. So we do understand your point of view because it was one we once held.

Atheists talking about their views in a thread set up to discuss those views, great example.

Tell me, when was the last time you had a couple of atheists come to your door trying to deconvert you?
