Referring to what Adan and Eve did, we are all now infected by the original sin since we we're born. Because of them, the evil, sins, unhappiness, hatred, and much more exist. And we need to have a balance in our world ; The good and the bad, without balance, the world... would just not work.
okok, fair point, buy what about before they sinned? how did the world work before the stain of original sin? did it work? did God put us here to balance, and do both good and evil, or did he put us here with a will to do good, but temptation for evil as well? how did Adam and eve work without evil, because they did it somehow.
i truly believe that there is no evil, only a shade of of grey and black and white melded together. Evil and good are moral concepts for what people find wrong.

perhaps i can be of slight assistance here to help you better understand the christian/catholic/jewish/lutheran/protestant/ viewpoint? (basically anythign that believes in the story of adam and eve, jesus and/or god XD)
the world wasnt really "working before sin." there was only two people, kinda hard to work with only two people. They were completely at ease, and carefree and had all they ever wanted. There was just peace for them. The fruits were their food, and the leaves and soft grass their bed.
god didnt put us here to balance, god put us each individually here to lead others to christ, and spread the gospel, and to love him. He didn't howevr, give mankind a temptation for evil and a will for good, what he did give us was a free will. and thats the beauty of it. if he wanted multiple robot unthinking worshipping creatures he wouldve made us like that, he wanted us to choose and have free will, because he loves us that much. temptation and the desire to do what we perceive as "good" is not what he gave us. Adam and Eve worked without evil, due to the face that there was no evil they had never known. just as they never considered nakedness wrong, they never knew evil. all they knew was the lord, and happiness with eachother.
i hope i asnwered some of your questions. this is what i choose to believe, and i hold steadfast in this faith. thanks.
dude, im a proud catholic, i do believe everything you just said, and im glad you said it, the reason evil exists, is very simple, very easy to know from the catholic standpoint. the reason is that God gave every creature thought/ ability to think. therefore we have free will, and that is why lucifer rebelled with his fallen angels and why God sent him to suffer for eternity in "hell" after that moment of free thought and questioning supremicy, sin was "created" but not yet inflicted on the human race do you understand?
they never knew evil. all they knew was the lord, and happiness with eachother.
the way my ex bishop explained it to me, is adam and eve were in a perpetual state of contentment, they werent "happy" they couldnt be happy, because to know happiness is to know sadness. there cannot be one without the other. you cant be "full to cententment" with out being hungry, then eve took the apple, boom, sadness, pain, suffering, but there was a way to be "happy". that of course is to follow the light of christ, to adhere to the law of god, and thus be rewarded with blessings. and eventually, eternal life with the father almighty.
I would say these questions are answerable.. there is no real objective evil, only a subjective feeling of what you for yourself think evil is. And in most cases you adjust your sense of evil to what the majority says. But nature knows no evil, it is a humane concept.
very good, we all percieve evil differently, there is not one true defintion of evil, its generally what harms, but sometimes what harms is good, so can we really answer why it exists if we cant even answer what it is?
Evil exists because good exists, they are two sides of the same coin.
Every action has a negative and a positive effect. No matter how small, sometimes the negative is greater and the action becomes evil, other times the positive is greater and the action become good. In other cases the action is simply neutral because there wasn't enough of a 'ripple' to cause change.
Hmm.. what is it exactly? A human concept, a word we use to qualify what we hate and despise, a word to express ourselves. What is it for? Almost the same answer, we use it to describe how we feel. It allows us to communicate, to tell another person what we feel about something, it allows empathy for the others. Why does it exist? Because we developed self-consciousness, we developed language, we developed empathy and we developed a sense of reponsibility or knowledge of the consequences of our acts.
That's about how I would answer to the questions. Roughly.
