The topic says it all.

Why do governments feel the need to make drugs illegal? If anything, it causes a lot more problems than there were before. If they were legalized, there would not be nearly as many violent actions over getting them since the prices would not be nearly as high. There would not been as many people over doing it with drugs, since it would eventually just become a normal thing in day-to-day life.

They don't legalize drugs so their nation can end up being a better place. Not only is drugs a bad thing, It is expensive. With Drugs legal, there would be a higher percentage of sickness. Everybody would have easy access to ruin their lives

Except that countries with looser drug laws than the U.S. have less of a problem with drugs than we do.

Legalize and tax tax tax..... I mean really people are obviously finding a way to get there fix anyways. If we would legalize it all then we could tax it and it would start emptying out our prisons, which are mostly filled with people there for drug or alcohol related crimes, mainly possession and distribution. The prisons are one of the biggest strains on the US economy. Why should we have to foot their bills? If we legalize drugs in the US then we would be able to empty out a vast number of inmates, which would mean less money out of the average citizens pocket, making everyone happier, the inmates and the citizens.

Bottom line LET THE PEOPLE DO DRUGS, cuz they always have and always will.

Unfortunately we can't just let them out, but it would mean that no new ones are going in and once they serve their time the ones already in would not go back.

Of course because it isn't breaking the law then silly.

Beyond the fact that the government is no longer harassing them, the drugs are safer, the dealers aren't pushing anything else, and the drugs are porviding a profit for the government instead of criminals.

Proof?

The fact that unregulated drugs made in makeshift labs in some horrible rundown house have a completely random effect, while safe government made drugs would have a predicable effect in a safer condition, as well as not being different from dealer to dealer?

They are regulated by the government, there are no unknowns to add something to them.

But what about home made mixed with the government made/certified. Also the FDA would let some things slide like rat hair, feces, etc.

They have to keep certain standards or lose the ability to grow and/or sell.

Think about the food industry. Cottage foods can be a little more dirty than those in factories. Even the factories are dirty. Especially the tobacco ones.

You mean all the things we eat daily that are harmless?

Especially the tobacco ones.

You mean the companies with so much money they bought the ability to do almost anything? And are losing the support of the public?

If marijuana were made legal the people growing it would not be able to hide other drugs/substances in it without losing their ability to grow/sell. They also seem to be given to reliable people considering you don't hear of medical marijuana being laced with something extra.

from what I've seen, the goverments should legalize the drugs that have been proven less dangerous than alchohol, then tax people for using it. it would still be legal, and the goverment could use the sudden surge in funding to improve american infrastructure.

I agree. Weed is legal for medicinal purposes, proving that it's not as dangerous as their anti-drug campaigns make out. And if the government sponsored it they could make a huge profit.
BUT.
By sponsoring/legalizing drugs, it would make the government responsible for any accidents that went along with it. You'd see a rapid increase of car crashes under the influence etc. And it being legal for a certain age is bound to attract children to it more, just the way alcohol does, because they know they'll be entitled to it some day.
