Why do governments feel the need to make drugs illegal? If anything, it causes a lot more problems than there were before. If they were legalized, there would not be nearly as many violent actions over getting them since the prices would not be nearly as high. There would not been as many people over doing it with drugs, since it would eventually just become a normal thing in day-to-day life.
There are enough drugs around as it is. Making it legal now would be just as good as encouraging people to take them. Would you encourage people to do suicide?

cmon this debate has been going since FOREVER. first lets clear one thing up...its NOT going to happen. one of the biggest reasons is because of money purposes. well actually the first biggest reason is that it would be the effing stupidest thing in the world for the government to do. the people that didnt want it to be legalized would rebel against the government and the people that did would quit their jobs and support their addiction. and what about the people in rehab? how hard would that be for someone who is addicted to crack, for example, to finally break the habit when all of a sudden they see a commercial for some pure colombian coke. and back to the money in terms of marijuana. the gov cant control and sell weed because no one would buy it. they LOVE cigarettes cuz the people that are addicted cant grow it so they have to buy it from a store so the gov gets their taxes. if weed was legalized they wouldnt get their taxes because everyone would just grow their own stuff. it would be complete chaos. its cool if u do drugs cuz i've had my fair share of experiences but cmon...this is so unrealistic and pointless to even debate about
there is one thing i think should change tho. i think the consequences for one time is too severe. idk if its right or not but its kinda sad how a lot of people in america dont get a second chance
half of you potheads who think that marijuana is harmless are purely ignorrent of the facts marijuana is actually atleast 10 times more deadly then cigarettes especially now days ,it causes cancer, and a whole load of other problems I can't even remember trust me I had to take a test on this, and also it was only used to make AID's victims get an appetite and did something for people who were undergoing chemotherapy which I find ironic seeing as to how it causes cancer so its really just helping them get into chemo again later down the road, point is making drugs legal would not lower the prices or make people less violent actually side affects from some of them are garenteed to make people even more violent, and would also cause there to be more people in the psych ward, because of all the psychaotive drugs like LSD and such, so it would be suicide for the government to make any currently illegal drug legal, and also the governments job is to keep order in a country first and formost, drugs do the opposite.
Since The Netherlands legalized drugs and prostitution, the rate of drug users plummeted, and pimping is non-existent. Women are much safer and people are stopping drug use.
Well tbh here in Greece there are quite many drug addicts. Legalizing drugs would only increase their number, however i believe that after some months the matter would cool down. So on one hand you have a constant rate of deaths from illegal drugs and on the other you have a death "boom" and then a decline from legal drugs. If we set aside economic and ethical reasoning legalizing drugs ain't a bad idea.
