I hope I understand this correctly, but I believe this would really change the way we access the internet. Hopefully driving the cost down, maybe even to free.
I remember several years back Google was claiming they were going to offer free WiFi to the entire nation. Buuuuuttttttt clearly that didn't take off.
It seems like a good idea but I'm curious as to how fast the new technology will be. If it keeps pace with WiFi than I'm all for it but I don't want to lose speed just to gain extra broadcasting range, that's what 3G is for. Also will this technology be implemented in cell phone technologies or will it simply replace WiFi?
oh, i meant to get the free wifi, people with land lines would have to get a wifi card. right??
Not necessarily, it could work like clear does. For clear they give you a modem or router type thing that picks up their wireless signal(4G) and then you can hook it up to your computer either with a wire or wirelessly.
Here in Houston? This is excellent. I'll take a trip over there and tell you guys what I think of it. Maybe once they do large scale testbed, they'll continue here in Houston and all of Harris county. Would be awesome for me!
Anyways, as I said, I'll take a trip over there and see if I can get the chance to access it.
I'm supposed to get 1.5mbps download speeds, I often get 20kbps or less. The only people who get a decent connection are the ones who pay a ton for it, and maybe the ones with Clear.
clear is okay, but out here they make you ppay out the a$$ for it, also, i think download speed is directly affected by the computer, and the processes that it is running, i jsut checked, and itunes is pulling 11% of my cpu capacity. likmewire is like 38 or something, but i can assign priorities to the processes.
