Not completely true. Its called progressive creationism. Evolution took place but God was in control of it. Also that the six days of creation weren't actual 24 hour days rather millions of years. I don't believe it myself, I believe that God created the Earth in the space of six 34 hour days.
Where are you getting 34 hour days from? Speaking Biblically for a moment it does say tat 1,000 years to us is a day to God.
Psalm 90:4 (NIV) "For a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night."
Though even if we are regarding the seven days as actually being 7,000 years this is still far to short of time.
Exactly, obviosly his faith is very loose. True Christians recognize the Bible as an absolute truth. It is what is no strings attached (or metaphors).
This still leads to problems since the Bible is self contradicting. There is also a lot that needs to be explained on why the evidence for many ways things happen indicate other ways or in some cases that the event would have been physically impossible.
Psalm 90:4 (NIV) "For a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night."
That is one arguement that progressive creationists use. I believe that verse is contrasting our lives on heaven and our lives on earth. Life on Heaven is eternal which compared to our short lives on earth which I believe is being shown in this verse.
I hope this does not come out as rude or offensive, but why do people, not just Christians, follow "holy" books that were written and edited, and re-edited by men, as the TRUE WORD OF GOD!?
I really don't understand it. The Bible we are all reference to is nothing but an abridged version. There were dozens of types of Christianity floating around during the 1st Century.

The Bibles we are refering to are near exact to what the authors originally wrote. Nothing is being edited and re-edited.
I actually learned about it and discussed it in my science and logic classes last year.
Much the same thing.

No its not. Considering the translation from the original language is not very good and dependent on the translators idea of the word and context used. Im sure there was some talk of how god really ment an age because the hebrew word ment aeon or something similar, I cant remember the details but you get the point. Its not even near a direct translation. AND it was still written by men. Judging by how much evil that people do, if there is a god he would not come down and smite people for writing a false book about him.

It's clearly speaking of God perceptions.
Psalm 90:2-4 Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. You turn men back to dust, saying, "Return to dust, O sons of men." For a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.

Actually they're not. As for not being edited and re-edited just a look at the various versions that we do have proves that it has been. There are also many scriptures that are left out of the Bible that we know of.
I try to use the most commonly excepted versions not because I think they are accurate or even factual but because they usually hold the most weight with who I'm arguing with.
Yes, thank you Munky for explaining that. My brain is a bit fried today from work. That is what I was getting at. It is like the game of telephone. By the time it's gotten to the last person (people living in 2010 AD), we have some jumbled mess.

That is not true. The Geneva Bible was first printed in 1560 and is still being printed today without being edited or re-edited. Same with the King James version and many other versions. Compare the NIV with The KJV (King James Version) you get the same picture and nothing affects the theology of the Bible. The difference is readibillity.
Considering how many translations the Bible has gone through, the material that was snipped from certain books and only sometimes thrown into others, the different interpretations that different denominations have chosen to work with and adapt... The Bible is by no means 'erfect' - it's a seriously fractionalized text with only some of the points agreed upon by all Bibles.

Yeah, the KJV has unicorns making it much more interesting! The NIV replaces it with a boring old ox...
And In the KJV Goliath was more like a video game character! He had two lives and died twice. In the new version they put (his brother) just like that, in a horrible attempt to make him more boring.
And the iron chariots in the KJV against the scythed chariots of anther version...How can I get my god bane straight if they won't stick to the story?
Not to mention the fact most versions have "corn" in them, witch is quite a feet considering corn grew in the America's an ocean away...
I honestly don't get how anyone can use the bible as proof of god; it's just a book of stories and moral guidelines. That's like saying that "It" by Stephen King prooves we all have to be on the lookout for a shapeshifting demon clown....

NIV also replaces KJV's dragons with jackels in a few places.
Also from the Dead sea scrolls the translation is off. For example Genesis 1:1 reads "beginning Elohim(gods) created(or shaped) the sky and land"
Now compare this with NIV or KJV (NIV) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (KJV) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

As I have said the Bible is as much proof of god as Harry Potter is proof of Dementors. Or the Lord Of The Rings is proof of orcs.

Then what is it? Re-edited to suit current times? Re-evaluation of ones faith? Re-written at will to suit personal views of the world and legends retold?
This book is a pile of lying, deceiving, contradicting, incestuous, murderous poo pit of bile. Im being nice here.
How can you possibly defend a book that has more contradictions than George W Bush juniors war cabinet.
