Weeeeewt, my town was mentioned in the 10 o'clock news just now! It was mentioned because a guy who was once a victim of child abuse from a teacher recently moved here, but still, a mention on the news!
So, have you or your school or your town/village ever been mentioned on the news or in the paper and why?
What happened was that me and my friends were chatting, and my friend was eating grapes. Somehow, he was grabbing my shirt, I looked at him, and he is choking. I got up as quickly as I can, came behind him, hold both my fist together, then hit his cheat. Tried 3 times, then, the grape came out. I was lucky for him to be alive.
My school was mentioned in the news recently because students took control of it as a way of protesting against the city's government education policy.
Uhhh, my town been in the news. A bunch of executives for large companies were fired here for owning a stash of laser pens, a crane dramatically crashed into an estuary and some teachers were fired for child molestation or financial difficulties (quite a difference, eh?).
My old hometown was probably mentioned a lot, being Cambridge.
I myself has never been on the news, though I've been on two TV shows on national TV.
My last town has been on the news sometimes, unknown town...it's there but people don't just...see it. Last time there was two cruising boats who had crashed into each other. One time there was a big bank robbery, with AK's involved...and some hours later my house was in a shoe called Efterlyst (helps the cops hunt down criminals by tips from the public) cause the thieves first escape car had crashed into our house, and another time was the time my school built a new huge gymnastics hall, allowing many new jobs in the town...
I was in the local newspaper three times, two times in the local football (soccer) cup and one time on my birthday.
Where I currently live is a suburb with many immigrants, I live on the edge of this suburb...but it's on the news all the time. There is a war going on here against the police.
And my new and current school was on the news just two days ago showing a special system my school uses for teaching Swedish and Swedish as second hand language.
My middle school was mentioned in the news because someone had got swine flu (H1N1) and we had to stay home for a couple of days. Our town/city is a suburb so we don't get mentioned that much. I have never been on TV , but one day I will be. Soon.

I got that last year, and I was out of school 6 days (sick a total of 10 days). Then I got pneumonia in my left lung. It wasn't that bad though, I felt fine.

I live in a suburb too, and it is pretty lame.

The small city I used to live in during the latter half of 2008 in the Philippines got hit hard by a typhoon back in September 2009. Lucky I wasn't there by then; the area was inundated by a metre of precipitation.
Other than national weather people coming here almost every hurricane season, Harry Whittington was brought here for medical treatment when Cheney shot him in that hunting accident a few years ago.
We were also in the news for being the fattest city in our lovely nation of fatties.
Uh.. Being in the news.. When I was about 5, my kinder class on the local news for singing Christmas carols in front of some homeless shelter or something. My mom had a field day with that, and in doing so, put me many steps closer to introversion. 'Tis a sad thing for one so young.

O_o ...[/quote] Yeah... Makes it sound like you're planning something, mate.
in one year: the police came to my school about a car bomb hoax, the police and media came to my school because some adult came up to a student and demanded his money, and the roof caved in due to rain.
