So, should gays be allowed to get married? Is it morally wrong to deny them the right or is it morally wrong to go against the institution of marriage? I can see religion being dragged into this one....
I never said I believed all of this stuff, I was just talking about the religion because I have read the bible, reading the bible does not make you a Christian.

Well, it would be nice if in a few states it remained legal.
I propose this to all laws, that are questionable. I wish the states each had there own laws, instead of following federal laws. This way, say I wanted gay marriage, but the people of.....Mississippi did not.
The fair people of mississippi could live i nthere country with no gay marraidge could live in one of the states where it is legal. That way every one is happy.

But there is always those people in the states who oppose what the majority wants, so not everyone will be happpy.
I keep hearing how the bible states that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Please, can someone actually show me this elusive bible verse? (I'm to lazy to look it up).
The problem with this is it's not about freewill as being gay isn't a choice.

I assume of course we speak of the U.S. government when we're discussing the concept of legalizing gay marriage. We are not a theocracy, and as Thomas Jefferson so aptly pointed out in the Declaration of Independence, "...endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights. That among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness..."
From what I understand, gay couples can't see each other in hospitals because they are not blood relatives, nor are they married in the eyes of most states. Surely a person would want to see their partner in the hospital. If you say you wouldn't, you are clearly of a stony heart.
But the pursuit of happiness comes into play more than anything else, especially within this country. Straight people get married because they love each other, it would make them happy and productive members of society. Why should homosexuals not be allowed to marry their partner?
Some fear that this will be a "gateway" into legalizing other things such as people marrying their dogs or games, etc. Within the United States, that won't happen, in my opinion, because animals and games cannot sign legal documents, now can they? They don't have the ability to sign their name, they are not citizens of the county.
You bring up Leviticus, do you follow everything that it states, or do you pick and choose? Leviticus bans many things including divorce, pulling out, shellfish, clothes of two blends of cloth (cotton/polyester blends would be an example) and several other things that we do every day. XXAlienGirlXX, in one of your Bible quotes, there was the word "homosexual". That term didn't come into context of having same-sex attractions until the late 19th century. If you don't believe me, feel free to look it up.
Back on topic, legalizing gay marriage could only better society. By banning something as sacred as religion, the government is saying, in effect, that it can decide what it wants to allow or not allow from the Bible. But we are not a theocracy, therefore, why should we be having this discussion? Why should it not be allowed?
