Harry Potter is like Lord of the Rings for kids in elementary school. Lord of the Rings is better in every way conceivable.
I think you've got that mistaken with The Chronicles of Narnia movies.
But I don't really know which one I think is better. I started reading HP when I was in 1st grade. I find the Lord of the Rings books to be just waaay too long with not much happening. I only got through the first one and The Hobbit. But with the movies I like the Lord of the Rings movies better, because from what I've read from the first one, it actually follows the book quite well. While the HP movies don't follow the books at all. So I'm going to go with I like them both the same.
It depends what you like. Lord is the rings is more battle with swords and catapults (the stone age shizzayy) Whilst Harry Potter is more magic. I prefer Battles with swords but Lord of the rings is very long and boring as hell.
But with the movies I like the Lord of the Rings movies better, because from what I've read from the first one, it actually follows the book quite well. While the HP movies don't follow the books at all.
Yeah they changed so much stuff in HP that it's like a loose adaptation. They made it into more of a soap opera than a fantasy adventure.
Please explain your opinion. I could just say "LOTR!" for my post. I like LOTR better because the fights are more realistic. By that I mean waving a little stick dosen't seem very practical, especially because the 'good guys' can't really do anything to kill/harm the 'bad guys' during fights because the good guys play by the rules.
I see them as two different audiences, as a child and even as a teenager Harry Potter was always amazing, it wasn't so much contemporary fantasy as it was a creation of the superhuman. However as a child I would never have understood the subtle nuances and writing techniques that Lord of the Rings is plagued with, even know I doubt that I would catch everything. I enjoyed both series' immensely but I cannot find it within myself to compare them.
Although my personal preference is Harry Potter. LOTR is great, but i grew up with harry potter more. I got the first book as a kid on it's release date at midnight and continued the nerd thing up until the final book. I find the movies easier to follow.
By that I mean waving a little stick dosen't seem very practical,
That made me smile
Anyway, harry potter is just stupid, it was ok a little but Nothing compared to LOTR
LOTR is awsome, Great story like a medieval style star wars (they both are awsome and have amazing stories) though i wish LOTR had as many movies as star wars, but who knows, maybe they will do what they did for star wars (make 3 movies set in time before Fellowship of the ring) like a movie with the last alliance of men and elves.
I have never actually read the Harry Potter books. But I can tell the LotR trilogy is great, and the movies are epic. HP movies are cool too but, like delos said; nothing is better than LotR. Well, it would be even perfect if it weren't for those passages with Sam and Frodo in Mordor, honestly. I know it's for the story, but I could have lived without.
