First off, this game is easy, though it's harder than the first. There's still times where all my teammates flee and I'm left standing against a horde of zombies. That's epic.
Anyway, the first thing to note is that you can pick which places to loot when you're searching. Houses sometimes have people. Anything with a gun icon is likely to have a weapon you'll want.
The thing to keep in mind is that you're not really in a rush. I just went exploring and hit every place on the map and still made it with 3 days to spare. Lay around, gather extra supplies, find extra survivors, and don't worry.
Gathering extra supplies means that if you get in trouble farther down the road, you don't have to go through as many fights in the harder areas because you've already got the supplies to move on.
The best path to take is Claysburg -> Aspenwood -> Jonestown -> Union City. There's no real need to go to Fort Tran, it's mainly just a way to get out of Jonestown in a hurry if you don't have the supplies to visit Union City.
That said, VISIT FORT TRAN ANYWAY. It has the most awesometastical weapons you've ever seen. There's the m249 machine gun which is like the uzi only with 200 rounds. There's also the RPG. That's right, a rocket launcher. It has a slow reload time, but who cares. When a whole group of zombies runs toward you, you can take them out with one or two shots. Then, hit the stragglers with your m249. You probably won't even have to reload the second gun. True, you only need these guns to kill the zombies that you could have avoided in the first place but so what? It's fun. Those who still complain need to look up the definition of the term "game."
Notes on the placement of mines: Bear traps don't do a whole lot. Gas can are awesome if they go off at the right time, but since they usually get hit in the crossfire they're not all that or a bag of chips. Trip mines are the best. No matter what, save all your mines for Jonestown, because that's when you need them. What about Fort Tran? You won't need them because that place is weapons heaven (or zombie hell).
Forgot, in case you hadn't noticed, head shots do extra damage. You'll want an accurate long-range weapon (UMP, MK-43, Hunting Rifle) to make head shots and a more powerful short-range weapon (Chainsaw, Uzi, Shotgun) to fend off ones that get close. I advise you to try everything at least once, since everyone's tastes differ.
Aspenwood has two of my favorite mid-level guns from the old game: the UMP and the uzi.
Whistler's Grove has the compound bow and shotgun. The bow is surprisingly effective, with good damage, virtually no reload time, and very accurate. Paired with the chainsaw it's an effective weapon.
You can visit both towns if you're bored, but there's almost no reason to do so.
Ok, ok, just voicing my opinion. I have to admit, there are some good game players around here that could beat a game on the first try. I would not be one of those people. Nice walkthrough.
lol, PKza the 2nd one JUST came out, and you'll have to wait for a while...
anyway, the game this time was easier than the first; overall there's just more zombies and more groups which got annoying... another thing is that this version is based more on luck than skill in a way, you need luck to actually get the weapons from the locations and luck to find the supplies at any desired town.
I would really hope that they put in a save feature after every level. Retrying with part of your crew missing really sucks.
Other than that, it was great how they made it into a real world. I love that you can now give your weapons to your crew, and that they can get killed (really brutally too! Shocked the hell out of me the first time it happened!) just like it should be.
I would just add lethality to the Assault Rifles as they are less effective than the Uzi. At that range, an AK-47, though imprecise, would just mince those zombies. And with the precision granted to it by its .222 round, the M4 should score headshot after headshot. Also the grenades were frustrating to handle, and I don't think they should be included in another game unless they are seriously tweaked.
Other than that, this is one of the best flash games I ever played! Good job!
