Question: How are you supposed to compare two different genres of music? Isn't it comparing apples and oranges?
But if that is what you wish: I do not have a preference for genres, as the music within can differ wildly. There are rap songs I like, there are metal songs/music I like, and there is a bunch of other music I entertain myself with. However I think Rock beats both.
I choose rock, like Cen, because at least 3/4ths of all music falls under the rock umbrella. Rap is its adoptive brother from the projects, swing and blues are its parents, world music is its cousin, classical is the grandpa, and metal is its parasitic twin. Electronic music is their vacuum cleaner.
nononono, I love metal music, and it's my favorite super-genre along with indie. I just chose rock because it just envelopes both metal and alternative to an extent.
Metal definitely. Rap is so repetitive seeing as the beats are recycled, everyone either talks or autotunes, no one actually plays an instrument, most rappers sample music and the lyrics are more or less the same.
Old School Rap vs. 80's Hair Metal ---> 80's Hair Metal Old School Rap vs. Death Metal ---> Old School Rap New School Rap vs. 80's Hair Metal ---> 80's Hair Metal New School Rap vs. Death Metal ---> Earplugs
It all depends on which subgenres are being taken into consideration.
