I started this thread a while ago and it was very one-sided. lets see if it retains its results after a good half year.

METAL! fast fingers, drumsticks, and vocals that could rip the human race to hell and back

RAP! C*AP!

This thread is full of ignorance arwarrwarwawrawrawrawrawrawrrwarwwaaawrw

Anyway, I dearly love both of them. Metal is my second-favorite big umbrella genre, but I've been on a huge hip-hop kick lately . . . so overall metal, but right now rap.

did you really just necro this jimmy? shame on you! i don't enjoy metal cause most of it is just screaming. So yea i will go with rap. Probably would have gone with rap no matter what it was up against but still.

Metal. Rap is for 10 year old girls and really dumb boys. Metal is for heavy, awesome, skilled musicians. Faster drums, better guitars (I don't even know if rap even HAS guitars).

Enough said.

Oh, and metal isn't screaming. You ignorant morons. Listen to Metallica, priest or Disturbed. They barely ever scream.

You ignorant morons.

The same applies to you from what you've said.

I listen to them both daily, so I can't choose one over the other, it's equal for me.

I love rap and sometimes I love metal too. I listen to them both almost every day but if I had to choose between the two I'd say rap. I have defended rap in many threads before so all I'm going to say is that it's really ignorant to hate something you don't know anything about.

eric B and Rakim are soooooo goooodd

**** right they are! (guess where I got my account name from)

Does anyone else here love A Tribe Called Quest? They are my favourite rap group of all time, their first three albums are so good that I'll probably never get tired of them, especially the second album, The Low End Theory.

bloodhound gang for the win =P

a little rap a little metal, and we are all happy ^^

but seriusly,
i can't choose both have there own good things.
only that rap needs a good lyrics, not only about b*tches and lucky shoes. where metal you barly understand it sometimes at all. but the voice is part of the music so it doesn't realy matter.
that might just give a slight edge to metal. but i like bands that do a combination of both most. =)

I only like real rap though no drake or lil wayne or even snoop dog he's fake in my own opinion and even though I love his rapping style dr dre can be fake if he raps about being a gangster and compton and that sort of stuff
Eminem is a great rapper partly because he doesn't claim to be anything he is not so I respect that

After you listen to the music for a while (takes dedication), you catch on with what they're saying, don't knock something because you don't feel like trying to listen to something.

But I prefer metal. There's more of it, it's been around longer, not as much auto-tuning *glares at T-Pain*, learning to play an instrument is a lot harder than learning how to rhyme.

And what everyone calls screaming or yelling? That's called a death growl, much more complex than yelling and screaming, if you want yelling, go to BMTH. Growling not only requires a good singing voice, but you also have to learn how to make it sound right, or nobody will listen to you because groups who growl the wrong way just sound awful and painful to listen to.

No that's to say I'll dismiss any Rap for the soul-fact it's Rap. I like the older Rap. (Beastie Boys, etc.)
