What event do you think, was the most important, the most astounding or shocking? Inventions play a big part in this thread as well as events.

*sighs* America does not rule the world, nor have they had that much influence on history. Recent history, yes, but that's about it.

Founding of the Roman Empire
Life and death of jesus (HISTORICAL figure)
Splitting of the Roman Empire (creation of Byzantium)
Fall of the Roman empire
Founding of Islam
Chinese inovation
Development of black powder
The Crusades
The Rennaisance
The entire Age of Enligtenment
The industrialization of England
The isolationist policies of China
The French revolution
The Nepolionic Wars
The Revolutions of 1848
The Franco-German wars
Unification of Germany
WWI
WWII (the **** of Nanking and the Japanese assault on China and Russia.)
The Holocaust
The Cold War (arms and space race)

I refuse to go further for while events have happened that will leave a lasting impact we have yet to fully understand this impact. Indeed we have yet to fully understand the impact of the past century, but we have a clear understanding for the most party.

The invention of writing is probably the most important historic event, because if there where no writing there would be no history.
Also Thirty Years' War and the Guerre de Cent Ans.

The invention of sliced bread.

No, not really.

The telephone. Communication took a giant leap forwards as did sound theory thanks to Alexander Graham Bell. We measure the sound intensity thru use of decibells (dB)
