I just feel like my ratings don't matter at all, even with armor points I rarely vote...Not even NG's voting power helped, That only helps when voting on new submissions.
Rating games is like voting in an election (president, parliament, [insert nation] Idol, etc.). Your vote wont make a big difference, but if a lot of people skip voting, however, there will be a big difference.
Besides, it's only one click with the mouse, it takes less than a second and you're already on the page. I pretty much always rate games I play.
I always rate games that I play. Not for the points, really, but because it's there. Also, it's a reminder to me of how I liked a game the first time I played it, if I haven't been to it in awhile.
i rate all the games i play. i also leave comments for them too. the only way i'm getting AP is by the forum posts. not that i'm just spamming to get points. I just look for an intresting topic then post

This is how the U.S. feels with voting for candidates. Our voter turnout rate is ~50%, even with the '08 election when more teens and young adults voted.
But it's nice to be able to give out your opinion. Truth be told, I only rate the games I play for longer periods of time, then I (try to) give out a review for it.
If I really dislike game I'll leave it alone and comeback later to see if there's an improvement before I give it a low score. But I do leave rates and reviews for all the games I play.
It's not that hard to rate a game. One click and you're done. But if you actually want to give a reasonable rating then it'll take some time, after all if you do want to give a reasonable rating you would have to play the game.
I usually rate the games that I play for a long time. I don't just go around randomly rating games 10/10 or 1/10.

Now you see if money was involved...
Also, to be honest you're right. But for the wrong reason. So many spammers change the votes completely.
I have seen some awesome games 5/10 with everyone saying it was good.
i find it easier to rate a game than to comment on a game...i really want to just rate it, then move on...but i tend to leave a comment as well...i just think it would go quicker if i didnt, like i can't see how people can have like 2000 comments but only like 1000 games rated...'tis insane...
Personally I rate every game I play. Basically the rating system helps determine how many people like a game, and how much they like it. As v6y said, sometimes your vote can really sway the meter when not many people rate the game.
