If you read what I said correctly you would've noticed that I said planets that are SIMILAR to Earth and last time I checked those planets are nothing like Earth. As for food and oxygen we can take plants over to the new planet for oxygen and food, we can take cattle or some sort of meat.
I know I worded that strangely but what do plants do? They take in carbon and create carbon. Is it truly that hard to understand what I was trying to say?
How will the plants grow? They will die out from lack of water. Then that regenerates the oxygen problem.
Back to the topic about planets being similar to Earth..... Think of Earth but maybe few slight changes like it might be a tiny bit smaller meaning less gravity or different terrains that would take awhile to adapt to.
Okay. Then Mars magically has fresh water appear right before our eyes. What the heck.Mars will be the same unless we humans change it.
the incan calendar ended in 2000 and everyone thought the world would end in 2000 - it didn't. same happened with the aztec calender in 2005. 2012 is just another excuse to: a) make a load of disaster films. b) let superstitious nutters scare everyone.
the world is not going to end in 2012. the only reason people think that is because the myan calender end then. why should we be afraid that the world will end just because a calender ends.
Lets see, people think that the world was going to end in 2000 and it didn't. so No, i don't think it will end. Why the heck did they make a movie about it??? did they make a movie called 2000 too???
The chance that the world will end in 2012 is pretty much nil to me. I did like the movie, but there have been many other instances where the world was "supposed" to end. For example, 2000.
If the world would end in a bang then I would go onto a rooftop, set up a grill, with hamburgers and salchichas, Id have a little bed thing that goes next to the pool. I would have a loaded .357, and a pair of sun glasses.
I would just enjoy the day and when the bang comes, you know what happens.
No the world will not end in 2012, that is just absurd!
No, rick073, I don't get it. Sure, that was one theory, but there are others relating to scientific reasoning. Open the debate with that instead, mostly due to the fact that it's more open for discussion than some Mayan calendar argument.
My science teacher discussed this one day because we were all wondering. Also, I'll briefly describe him: he is completely honest and brilliant(I mean it, he knows about all the latest science topics). With that being said, what has everyone so worked up is a astroid/meter thing will go between us and the moon. This has some scientists worked up and worried because it is the closest a HUGE object has come to us in a long time. Also, my teacher said that if the projectile were to hit the earth , it would wipe out Russia(no offense). He said he on Nasa and other science websites to find that out. Just because the Mayan calendar ends does not mean we will end.
I am completely certain that the Earth won't be destroyed in 2012. At most, Earth will suffer a polar shift. That would most likely cause GPS systems to malfunction until they are reprogrammed, and birds might be disturbed in terms of migration, until they adjust. I highly doubt the Earth will have any sort of cataclysmic event.
you do know that the mayan calander did not count leap years? that means the world ended already... around the year 2008... were past our due-date... and we will be for a long time.
