Do you think aliens are real? personally I do. While they might no be the little green men who say "take me to your leader", chances are that somewhere in the universe, there is other forms of life. There might even be life in our own galaxy! Considering just how massive galaxies are and how many galaxies are in the universe, chances are that Planet Earth is not the only planet that contains life. So give me your thoughts on extra-terrestrials!
With the brute largeness of the universe, chances of life somewhere else is extremely high, possibly even intelligent life. I definately beleive there are aliens out there, but most likely ridiculously far away from us.
yea they are. they are the mexicans that clean my house. illegal aliens.
Yeah aliens cross into America every day.But on a more serious matter.I think there might be a slight chance of aliens being real but they aren't going to be Martians. They would probably be millions of miles away from us.I think they would probably be intelligent.I don't think we will be coming to them though. In fact I think we might never be able to see them for thousands of years.
With the universe as big as it is, it's unlikely that we are a unique occurrence. I mean, out of the billions of stars in the Milky Way Galaxy alone, I think it's absurd to make the statement that Earth is the only planet that can harbor the conditions needed for life. Perhaps we are the only planet with such complex organisms as humans; other planets may be at various stages of life, maybe even at the stage where they are forming the basic building blocks of life (amino acids, nucleic acids, monosaccharides, etc.)
If that's the case, then it'd give us humans all the more reason to search out for planets that could sustain life. It would allow us to study the origin of life and give us an understanding of the events that unfolded on Earth. After all, biologists are still stumped as to how the simple building blocks came together for the first time in order to form a cell.
I'm fairly confident they are real. I don't think it's possible that the universe is so vast and there are so many more planets than just the 9 in our solar system (I haven't forgotten you Pluto). It's just that we don't know about it because everything is so far away, that it'll take years for technology to get to other solar systems or galaxies. I love astronomy...
And I looked up and I realized I just repeated basically everything the post above me said. But I think it's true that there is life on other planets.
but then again... the universe as we know it is limited... there's also a chance that we're all alone :'-(... and in a sense... until we confirm extraterrestrials we're still alone.
It is a near mathamatical impossibility that there is no other form of life somewhere in the universe. Look at our sun, and then compare it to other stars. It is tiny, and compared to it, Earth is tiny, and compared to the earth, Humans are tiny.
So yes, there is other life somewhere out there, and they are probaly wayyy more advanced then us.
I was reading TIME magazine, and found that this in the 10 Questions section, featuring notable author and futurist Ray Kurzweil:
Do you think we'll find intelligent life elsewhere in the universe?
The consensus in the field is that there's somewhere between a thousand and a million technologically advanced civilizations just in our own galaxy. But once you get to a point where we are, within a few centuries at most, these civilizations would be doing galaxy-wide engineering. It's impossible we wouldn't be noticing that. So my conclusion is that we may be the first.
