I thought it would be interesting to find out the amount of AP needed to go up a rank from the previous rank. Here is the break down.

Starting at 0 ap

No Rank to Wood Wood Serf: +10 AP = 10 AP
Wood Serf to Silver Serf: +15 AP = 25 AP
Silver Serf to Gold Serf: +75 AP = 100 AP
Gold Serf to Wood Squire: +125 AP = 225 AP

Wood Squire to Silver Squire: +175 AP = 400 AP
Silver Squire to Gold Squire: +225 AP = 625 AP
Gold Squire to Wood Knight: +575 AP = 1200 AP

Wood Knight to Silver Knight: +550 AP = 1750 AP
Sliver Knight to Gold Knight: +500 AP = 2250 AP
Gold Knight to Wood Lord/Lady: +750 AP = 3000 AP

Wood Lord/Lady to Silver Lord/Lady: +500 AP = 3500 AP
Silver Lord/Lady to Gold Lord/Lady: +500 AP = 4000 AP
Gold Lord/Lady to Wood Duke/Duchess: +500 AP = 4500 AP

Wood Duke/Duchess to Silver Duke/Duchess: +700 AP = 5200 AP
Silver Duke/Duchess to Gold Duke/Duchess: +800 AP = 6000 AP
Gold Duke/Duchess to Wood Prince/Princess: +1250 AP = 7250 AP

Wood Prince/Princess to Silver Prince/Princess: +1250 AP = 8500 AP
Silver Prince/Princess to Gold Prince/Princess: +1500 AP = 10000 AP
Gold Prince/Princess to Wood King/Queen: +2000 AP = 12000 AP

Wood King/Queen to Silver King/Queen: +2500 AP = 14500 AP
Silver King/Queen to Gold King/Queen: +3000 AP = 17500 AP

Finishing at 17500 AP

So from No Rank to Wood Knight it takes increasingly more AP between each rank. So to go from Silver Serf to Gold Serf is more AP than going from Wood Serf to Silver Serf.

But then it takes Less AP to go from Wood Knight to Silver Knight than it does to go from Gold Serf to Wood Knight. And Silver Knight to Gold Knight is less AP than the previous 2 ranks.

Gold Knight to Wood Lord/Lady takes more AP than between any previous (continuous) ranks. But it then takes less AP to go from Wood Lord/Lady to Silver Lord/Lady and Silver Lord/Lady to Gold Lord/Lady.

Finally, the AP need to earn the next ranks increases as wood be expected after this point.

So it is actually easier to go between some of the higher ranks than it is to go between some lower ranks.

It generally takes less AP to increase in level than it is to increase in rank, though there is an exception. I never did understand why the requirements are as they are. It's irregular and "weird", instead of consistent.

I do think the ranking system is completely random since i notice that my rank changes like everyday at about 8pm. A new ranking system would be nice. I don't understand why there is AP i just think that it is kinda useless since you can't do anything with it. I think that should be fixed too.

The topic is about the way you gain the ranks like wood squire, knight, etc. Not your numerical ranking.

Their saying it seems random because it takes more and more AP to go up from one rank to the next, then less AP, then even AP, then More, then less, then even, and then more again. Something like that.

Because there is AP, there are ranks. Granted, if the way we earn AP will change like Ian says it is, then the threshold in which we gain ranks may change too. We might even need some Reputation to gain ranks, instead of AP alone. There's a thought

Oh i see now i thought they meant the numerical ranking. Sorry about that.
I think he made it like that to make it hard for people to reach higher ranks instead of just decreasing it each time to make it easier.
There would be no point if it was so easy to reach the last rank.

That does make sense but that's not what happens in between ranks. It takes less AP to go from, the higher rankings of, Wood Duke/Duchess to Silver Duke/Duchess (700 AP) Then it does to go from, the lower rankings of, Gold Knight to Wood Lord/Lady (750 AP).
You need more AP total get to to become a Silver Duke/Duchess but it takes less AP to get to Silver Duke/Duchess from Wood Duke/Duchess than from Gold Knight to Wood Lord/Lady.

*Iron, not Silver. It's in the images, man ;(

Yeah, the different levels, going from wood to iron, and from iron to gold, are generally much easier (takes less AP) to obtain than it is to jump to another rank entirely.

Granted, if the way we earn AP will change like Ian says it is, then the threshold in which we gain ranks may change too.

This leads to an interesting bit of trivia. The guide here: http://armorgames.com/community/thread/1819057/armor-games-faq Written by an Carlie, and admin states:

Each Rank has a different point value, and here are the current baseline rank levels (1/16/07):

and lists:

Wood Serf: 10 AP
Silver Serf: 25 AP
Gold Serf: 100 AP

You can't dispute the images though, I thought it was iron, but then I was like, "Go by the guide.". Should have stuck to the Iron.

So as early as January 16, 2007 they were getting confused for silver. I wonder who made the mistake?

Were are talking about the ranks in levels like wood knight. iron duke/duchess. Unless your saying that there should be more ranks so it's easy to get to a higher one, which I agree, but with AG3 coming out it doesn't matter.

I think i figured something out. The AP difference might be so strange, because of it being staggered with unlocking certain armatars at certain AP levels.
