I just saw "Angels & Demons" the other day and i got very impressed! thats why i question everyrhing that is inflicted with the vatican-state. i do not pray anyway...but did the "ope-community" kept sominthing hidden about the Illuminati? Are the mysteries about them real?
It is true that they used to be because of how the medieval mind understood things to work.
This is still going on today.
However, that is changing and some wonderful science comes from people who belong to the church .
Could you name a few example please?
But to say that the current Pope is opposed to science is incredibly ignorant.
The Pope did make the claim that he does not oppose science in the same breath that he said scientists should pray for guidance and scripture matches with scientific discovery. This is the same guy who claimed "Evolution has not been âscientificallyâ proven and science has unnecessarily narrowed humanityâs view of creation,". So I would say the guy is bending over and turning around when he talks.
I do know that they are only opposed to science that is morally questionable, and I can get behind that.
They are against any science that goes against there scripture. Another problem with this is they are working from the idea of there being an absolute morality which does not exist. Finally I see them oppose research that could actually help many all because they deem it immoral.
They're not saying that one can't move forward at all. But how much knowledge do we REALLY need lest we lose our humanity?
Your essentially claiming knowledge is bad? If anything the more knowledge we have the more humane we become. Sorry but this last point is just fail.
For the last point I"m thinking of the experiments perfromed during WW2. They lost their humanity by performing some of the things they did. Yeah it helped learn things like our capacity for cold. But at what cost?
I'll get back to this later. As I'm not Catholic I'm not as versed on it as I should be.
*Thinks for a second* Lets see, the last major scientist who was Christian was who again?
Charles Darwin. Win.

We also trepanned millions of people and sent anyone who was "sick" to an asylum ,back in the day, in order to evolve our understanding of human psychology. There may be things that have been deemed inhumane, but these things help us heighten our understanding of how things work. Oh, and for the record, we trepanned (cut holes in peoples' heads) people because we thought there were evil spirits inside them, and we also sent people to asylums because we thought they were possessed by the devil or her cronies. If neither worked, we just executed them, shrugged, and moved on. I think religion caused this. I'm not sure, but I believe I'm 99% sure.
very interesting statements! isnit it true that the curch-communtiy has overtaken evrything we know nowadays? on the second thought i think we are depended of religion (how sad).
I think it's natural to depend on something if you believe that it's the only way to live life and interact with the world.
That said, it's not necessarily a bad thing, but can become one (say Westboro Baptist church <_< >_<. Ugh.)
Also it's more fundamentalist sects of christianity that believe in "Creationism" (they're building a theme park for it. o.O), and I do know that most Catholics I knows and most christians within my denomination accept evolution as the means of creation.
And how do you know? Most people now don't go flaunting their religion when they do something amazing. There just isn't any reason for it in the modern age.
And yet another reason why I'm glad that I don't live in the USA

Simple, lets look at some of the greatest minds of the last century or so.
Einstein- said several things that hinted that he was an atheist or deist; he was Jewish as a child
Steven Hawking- wrote a book about how a god was not necessary to create the universe, atheist.
I actually can't think of any others at the second, tell me if you can think of some.
My God. I'm not going to go searching for them. I'm just saying that one cannot know for certain. I have profs that are Christian and you would never know because they don't make it a habit of explaining that there are and it doesn't figure into their work
